“A few quirks meant a disappointing stay.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Stayed one night. Hotel decor a hotch potch of colours and themes. Room clean and fresh but a bit small. Main problem was that we were on the ground floor near an outdoor extension to the bar and the hotel entrance, so noisy in the daytime and woken at 3am by two drunks trying to get in to the hotel. There are no staff around at night and the reception is closed between 11pm and 7am. The hotel is locked and you cannot get out. We needed to check out early which was far from easy.

I booked a few rooms for a family trip to the lakes. The hotel staff where very helpful when booking and in the restaurant and bar, and the hotel was nice and bright and clean, although a little soulless. We ate in the restaurant and the food was nice and the breakfast was standard hotel fare in the morning. We had a problem with a broken radiator that would not switch off and turned the room into a sauna, however the only solution was a fan, which ruined the nights sleep.

This is an absolute gem of a place. Always a warm welcome and the staff do all that they can to make you welcome. The food is wonderful. Very handy for the M6 and close to Kendal and the lakes. Definitely one of our favourites.

Our 1 night stay was excellent. This is first class hotel of its type. It does the job well. Food choice was good. Meals were well prepared and served. Bar was good too. Good place to stop off from the M6.

I stayed at Crooklands for 2 nights on business. The room was basic but clean and maintained. Free wifi but virtually no signal it was so weak. Great food, nice bar areas but very expensive, around £8 for a double Bacardi and coke. Free parking.

We went to Crooklands Good Friday till Easter Monday, good deal at this time as it was 3 for 2. Lovely spot close enough to most of the popular places in the lakes. A warm friendly welcome on arrival, the staff were all wonderful and couldn't do enough to please. Spacious immaculate rooms with all the essentials. Cosy bar with coal fire and bar food which was good..... Would definitely recommend, and stay again!!

We had one night here just before Easter weekend. We often stop here meeting family for meals but this was our first stay. What a wonderful experience it was! Beautiful room, very comfortable bed and a freshly cooked breakfast., I would highly recommend this hotel . Every member of staff are so pleasant and helpful What more can you ask for!
