“Accommodation not as expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Fantastic friendly service, very good food and wonderful views but hotel room was much to be desired - in deperate need of a good clean and modernisation. The cobwebs and spiders looked like they had been there since year dot and a dead bug on our crisp clean white towel greeted us on the bed. The bathroom fitments were older than me and sadly not maintained to any standard at all. I can confirm the sheets were clean. Expensive for the standard of the room (£70) but breakfast was delicious.

“A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

On route to the Lakes for the Bank Holiday we stopped at the Lyth Valley Hotel for a quick drink and look around as we've driven past many times and always been intrigued. What a beautiful place! The staff were friendly and the views from the restaurant stunning. As we walked in the smell from the kitchen was so overwhelming, we had to have a bite to eat! The menu was incredible and I plan to work my way through it. We shared the brie (with a beautiful homemade chutney) and king prawns followed by steaks which were cooked to perfection and probably the best we've ever had. This was washed down with a gorgeous bottle of Shiraz which the waitress recommended to us (they were also happy for us to take the rest of the bottle away with us as we were driving - a lot of places grumble!). Our only regret is that we should have tried the place sooner!! We will be back again soon. Thank you!

“Best steaks around - not one to drive past!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

We visit the Valley on a regular basis and have done for years. We get a great welcome from Shush and George every time. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food divine and this can be washed down by a good range of beers and a fantastic (and reasonably priced!!) selection of wines! We often just call in for a drink when passing, but this inevitably results in a meal! They're happy for you to dine in the bar (our well behaved dog sometimes joins us!) or in the restaurant over looking the beautiful views. You cannot get a better steak elsewhere! And believe me, we've tried...EVERYWHERE!! Well worth a visit!

“Fantastic food, great service, stunning views.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Myself and a friend visited the Lyth Valley last Friday for dinner, we were greated with a lovely warm welcome from the staff and we seated at the best table in the restaurant that overlooks Scouts Scar. Service was prompt and the staff were very attentive.
I had pate to start and my friend had the king prawns on the specials menu. Both were divine.
We then followed with fillet steak which is safe to say, was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten! We would also recommend the eaton mess as it was delicious!
Great service, plenty of choice and fantastic food. Well worth a visit!
