We only ate here as it was recommended by our hotel receptionist and everything else in kendal was shut being a Monday
To start we ordered a round of drinks, two out the three ordered where incorrect...this should have told us something!
We ordered sausage and mash, a mixed grill and beef chilli, the sausages were burnt and the mash tasteless, the chilli was like mince in tomato sauce with rice with no flavour at all, but at least this was edible, the mixed grill hmmm....the steak was a lump of gristle and fat, the sausage again burnt, the chicken tasteless, the gammon edible and the onion rings were fine, the chips were raw in the middle but looked like they had been re- cooked as they were brown not golden.
We complained to the managed and to his credit did not charge for the main dishes, but this left us still hungry so we had to order a pudding, the choc fudge cake was fine and the warm brownie again ok.
We were presented with the bill and sat and waited and waited for someone to come and take our payment, it was only until a girl laying the tables walked past we asked her to take payment and she advised us that we had to pay at the bar!
Would honestly advise to avoid here unless you are desperate
