“Great, honest food...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2013

Union Jack is a local favourite. A traditional British cafe, specialising in wonderful, all day cooked breakfasts. But this is no greasy spoon. The food is of the highest quality and the meat and eggs all locally sourced. For those who insist on eating a "proper" lunch at lunchtime, there are tempting offerings to choose from, including soups, pies and veggie dishes too. Very handy for those visiting K Village, Abbott Hall & Lakeland Museum and Kendal's
magnificent Parish Church.

“Great take-away lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Fabulous take-away lunch!
I treat myself to a ham & cheese toastie and a portion of chips. The toastie was delicious - proper chunks of roast ham and plenty of really tasty cheese. The chips were lovely too. They'd put a lot of chippy's to shame!
Under £5 as well.
Will be going back!

“Wedding Anniversary!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2013

12 September 2013
I asked my wife where she wanted to eat for our eleventh wedding anniversary and she replied "The Union Jack".
We both had the veggie grill.
The service was prompt and friendly, the food was freshly prepared, plentiful and delicious and the bill was just over ten pounds!
This is traditional British cafe food at its very best.
We eat at The Union Jack at least once a month and if you like good quality cafe food at a very reasonable price then you'll love The Union Jack.

“Best value cafe in Kendal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

This café was full and people were waiting for seats!
1. Chips, egg and beans.
2. Quiche and salad with chips.
3. Cumberland sausage, chips and peas.
The chips were hand cut, delicious and hot.
Everything was just about as good as you can imagine.
So that's three meals and drinks for £17.95!
So if you're a fat bloke who can't fit in the seats (see previous review) then maybe try a salad next time.
