“Very good group lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

We booked our staff Christmas lunch at the bistro. The table was ready for us and staff were very welcoming. Some crackers were provided and service was quick and attentive. Everyone found something they fancied on the menu, and the food was as ordered when it arrived.
The only disappointment was that the vegan diet did not have a dessert option even though we had notified the bistro when we booked.

“Stop Gap”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Its easy to stop outside this Bistro when the traffic lights are red but parking on a double yellow line is not advised.
We ate here on the spur of the moment as a space further up the street became available and first impressions inside are very good.
Décor, as you would expect is bright and colourful the table layout split creating two areas rather than one open space.
I am sure this style works very well when the Bistro is busy but there were only four other people in and because of the central wall, realised we couldn't be seen by the only waitress on duty unless she ventured round our side. Given how quiet is was, we felt almost forgotten between courses.
The food is good, thoroughly enjoyed the seafood platter starter, but the plate was far too small for the selection, everything including the slice of bread was crammed together.
This is just a technical point and would definitely eat here again.

“Prize Pumpkin!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

Had lunch here, again, today. Wholesome, well cooked game pie, plus all the trimmings followed by some delicious ice cream.

Excellent service too.

This is a proper home from home.

Highly recommended.

“Excellent and inexpensive eatery in Kendal.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2013

My wife and I chose this eatery for a visit to Kendal,, only to find that my son and family always eat here because specials are really good value. Last visit, we had Haddock and chips with tea and bread and butter. It was less the £7.00 each. The food was excellent as well as being good value. No problem about recommending to others.
