“Good food but far too hot!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Ate with two friends. Service was initially prompt but drinks order took a very long time to arrive. Food was very tasty, the Tuscan bean soup starter was absolutely delicious.

The only problem was the temperature of the restaurant. It was a coolish June evening but it was like being in a Turkish bath! Recommended for the food, though.

“Fab puddings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

We went on a very busy night, but were quickly served. The staff were attentive and told us about special offers on drinks and were happy to make changes to toppings on the pizza we ordered for our son. The fillet steak was cooked very well and was a decent size.

Puddings at around £5 each were delicious we had sticky toffee pudding that was so light, a nutty brownie with ice cream and a creamy tiramisu which was a lovely large portion.

Overall good staff, prices a little high but the puddings more than made up for it!

“Enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

We had dinner here on a recent trip. Food is good, though not exceptional. The place was full, with people lining updating for it to open, which was a good sign, but this made it very noisy. noisy.

Despite the busy, busy, evening, the staff were nevertheless very attentive.
It was a very hot evening, and we were originally placed at a table by the window in full glare of the early evening sun. We were told it was the only one available, but the manager came over immediately and led us to another, which was in a perfect location. Later, when a couple was placed near the window, the curtain was drawn so that they would not have the sun bearing down on them.

Best to book in advance.

“Good food, too loud at times”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

We stumbled across Paulo Gianni’s by accident when looking for the tourist information centre during our holiday in Kendal. We thought it looked nice from the outside, and so decided to try it for dinner. We booked ahead – and it’s a good thing we did, the place was incredibly busy. We turned up about 10 minutes early for our reservation, and the staff were very quick to get a table ready for us even though we said that we did not mind waiting. It was unfortunate that this table was right at the back of the very busy restaurant, on one of the hottest days of the year so far. We were absolutely sweltering, to the point of feeling uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly and efficient – our waitress repeatedly apologised for the slow service even though none of us felt that it was in any way slow! The food was good, though strangely two of our party ordered lasagne and when they arrived they looked very different. Whilst both were definitely lasagnes, they tasted significantly different as well.

We were sat right under a speaker, and at times the music was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves speak. I asked a passing waiter for the music to be turned down, only to be told that that was as quiet as it got (and yet, moments later, it was turned down!) The volume got louder again as the evening went on. I was not going to complain again but our waitress actually asked us whether it was too loud for us. Again, the music was turned down, and the waiter I had asked originally came back to us and apologised, claiming that the speaker above our heads was temperamental and didn’t like to obey the volume control!

Overall, the food and service were good, but the atmosphere was let down by the loud music and incredible heat.

“Good food. Great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We went mid week, the restaurant quite busy with parties of people, but we were served quickly and efficiently. There is lots of choice, and the prices reasonable. Would go there again.,
