“Roadside inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Dog-friendly roadside pub, with accommodation. Wide range of ales brewed on the premises, with guests from other Cumbrian breweries. Good food available throughout the day. No TV for those who prefer their drinks and food without whatever the day's sporting event is balring in the background. Pleasant outside seating area to rear of pub.

“Picturesque pub with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

Found this place on the Internet so made it easier to locate! Looks great outside & authentic inside. x2 bars The Smithy (no dogs) & The River bar (very dog friendly), also seating outside at front and rear. Own brewed real ales, great starters, mains and puds. Recommend the King prawn curry, Beef & Ale pie & Eton Mess. The burgers looked amazing & for the very hungry!! Good portion sizes. Great customer service, very efficient. Parking can be a little tricky! Definitely worth a visit!

“Great beer, great welcome, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2014

Fantastic pub which we frequented often as staying in cottage nearby. Wanted somewhere that was dog friendly and this is more like a dog sanctuary with regular treats handed out by the bar staff while we enjoyed the ale brewed on the premises (all with doggie themes with the favourite being Collie Wobbles) and very good food. Best place we've been too where we could relax with our dog anywhere in the pub..

“A real (Ale) find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

A lovely old country pub with its own micro brewery producing 12 real ales was a real find. All real ales were described and categorised into creamy, hoppy, malty etc to allow you to make an informed decision. It would be great if this were round the corner from our home!
It was quite a busy place with diners in all rooms. Excellent menu, well carried out. Excellent waiter service. Nice setting. 5 letting rooms. The bed in room 4 would benefit from a mattress topper as it was firmer than we are used to.
