We just had 3 nights at Walker Ground Manor and we didn't want to leave! Fantastic welcome (tea and home made cake!), wonderful breakfasts, great rooms, brilliant location .... I could go on and on. Richard and Sue are perfect hosts - so helpful with advice on walks and local amenities. A lounge to relax in front of a roaring fire ......... They have it all!
We'll definitely be back!! Many thanks!!

Room Tip: They have a room with a 4 poster!! My friends had that one (I lost the toss) but my room with a gard...

A delightful place to stay; location is excellent, with walks nearby and easy walk into the village with its pubs and shops. The house is gorgeous! Wonderful welcome from Sue and Richard and nothing is too much trouble. Tea and cake on arrival sitting next to a roaring wood burner, breakfast choice was excellent and delicious. And for added wow factor -how could you resist staying in a room which overlooks a waterfall?! Bedroom (rear) was large, with a huge ensuite and a view to delight. Definitely want to come back again and again. Thank you for a fabulous stay.

Room Tip: Rear for the waterfall, front for a four-poster.

Stayed here for one night with our little dog. Lovely clean room and everything you may need in case you have forgotten something. Fabulous Cumbrian cooked breakfast ( hubby ) and fresh fruit and croissants for me, sausage specially for Tilly. Hens followed us to our veranda after breakfast in the lovely garden. Great for walkers or anyone visiting the Lakes who wants a quieter place to stay .

Stayed one night at Walker Ground and had a fantastic experience.
We were greeted on arrival by the owner Sue, who showed us round and gave us a potted history of the beautiful 17th century house. Original paneling and floorboards from 1688. Sue also made us a fresh cafetiere of coffee and home made Lemon Drizzle Cake (made with eggs from their own hens),delicious!
The room was tastefully furnished with extra touches such as Crystal Glasses, fluffy bathrobes, corkscrew and bottle stopper. There was even a clothes brush in the drawer.
There is a lovely garden with a small waterfall which is nice to explore.
Breakfast is taken in the 17 th century dining room and you are seated at a long table so you can get to know other guests. I liked this touch as you met some really nice people with interesting stories to tell.
Other touches are torches to help you see on the 5 min stroll into Hawkshead and umbrellas if it's raining.
We really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back.

A beautiful 16th century house set in the picturesque village of Hawkshead. Just a 5 minute walk in to the village centre. The room was enormous - very comfy large bed. Likewise the bathroom was huge too. Delicious breakfast options available and very friendly owners.

We walked from the bus, which was a bit of a walk, but well worth it. The immaculate bedroom with antique 4-poster bed and the huge bathroom and long deep bath were all we could wish for. The quaint walk down a cow path through beautiful fields overlooking the village was refreshing. The view was so amazing. Sue served a wonderful breakfast--whatever we wanted--and she gave us great directions as to where to go and what to see. Dont miss hopping a bus from Hawkshead to Grasmere, to the Wordsworth daffodil garden!
