Don't stay here if you do not have car. Hawkshead village is far from everything although there is a local bus that takes an hour to get to ambleside, the last one leaves at 6pm and thru run hourly. Considering how far it is, and there is no lighting on the long walk at night, they should offer a shuttle service.
It's a long, 35 min walk to hostel.
The hostel property is nice and near a great lake but its run down, no WiFi, rooms dirty. Also, rooms don't lock and no place to lock stuff once in room. You can pay extra for breakfast or dinner but its crazy priced for a hostel. Compared to the hostels I've stayed in around the world, this is one of the worst.
