We booked for the Easter Weekend. Andrea is a wonderful host. She looked after us really well: spotless comfortable accomodation; terrific breakfasts.

Thanks Andrea.

I stayed at Ivy Dene for 5 nights during the first week of October with my father, as we were mountain hiking in the Lakes. What a treat after a long coach trip from Cornwall! The double room was immaculately presented, calming, warm and beautifully equipped with everything I could wish for, including a huge mirrored dressing area, excellent storage, decent shower, radiators for drying wet clothing and even little treats like chocolates/biscuits each day. The bed was very comfortable with extra blankets provided if needed. Andrea was the perfect host; so engaging, helpful and kind, catering for every request with a cheerful smile - and her young son was adorable. Her breakfasts were also amazing - especially as I do not eat meat - we could really have a hearty meal to keep us going up the mountains and the main course was cooked beautifully in pleasant surroundings. The B&B has lovely views of the mountains yet is ideally situated on the main Keswick road. We had atrocious weather during that week but after a long, precarious climb up Scafell Pike and Old Man of Coniston, Ivy Dene felt very comforting and homely to return to and with the use of a key, we could do so at any time. Car parking was easy, in the drive or on the verge and shops, restaurants and pubs were all within reach - we recommend Queen's Hotel and Matthew's Bistro in Ambleside for a terrific meal. This is a reasonably priced, high quality place to stay and I would not hesitate to return in future. Full marks to Andrea, her Mum and the team!

We have just stayed at Ivy Dene on our way to Scotland. Andrea is the perfect host and deserves to do well. The rooms were spotlessly clean and Andrea makes sure you have everything you need. The breakfast was excellent with a great choice. A really comfy bed and a good shower. What more could we ask for. We will definately be back. This is a B&B not to be missed.

We have stayed at the Ivy Dene before and will do so again. Andrea is a wonderful host and makes sure that her guests are fully catered for and warmly welcomed. The rooms are cosy and spotlessly clean and the breakfast is perfect with a wide choice available. The location is also ideal as it is situated a short walk from Grasmere village and is easily accessible via public transport and within walking distance of The Swan and The Travellers' Rest. We look forward to staying at the Ivy Dene again.

We stayed at Ivy Dene for 2 nights and would certainly be back again. Reading reviews on here before we had gone we expected a tiny room, and although it was small it was perfectly fine for the pair of us and we didn't feel cramped. We had a nice en suite with a hot shower which again was perfect for us. The owner Andrea was lovely, really friendly and full of information and answers to any questions we had. Our breakfast was HUGE and delicious. I didn't eat anything until dinner time both days, it was really great. There was also a very sweet and friendly cat who liked to sleep on the stairs and greeted us each morning. We would definitely stay again if in the area, and the only slight downside was that we had to park on the road on the second night, but there was space to pull our car onto the verge so it didn't really matter.

What a lovely host Andrea was for our recent short stay at her wonderful B&B in the picturesque village of Grasmere. Our bedroom at the back of the house although quite small was extremely comfy, clean with a great shower. It was very quiet even with the bedroom window open all night. The breakfast had a selection of cereals and fruit with the highlight being the cooked breakfast which was really tasty and one of the best we have had throughout our travels in the UK. The temptation to return is great so we will be back, Andrea.

Stayed here for 3 nights just came home yesterday, we had a great time walking walking in this area. Frankly I could have sat at my bedroom window (room one) all day , the view was to die for.
The house is 5 mins from Grasmere and this is a plus as the views aren't restricted by houses and its a nice walk in to centre. At twice at the Lamb Inn which was nice. Breakfast at the B&B was lovely and plenty of it. Our host was lovely and friendly and goes out of her way to look after you. (HOPE YOU ENJOYED YOUR VISIT TO EDINBURGH :)
The house is spotless and well decorated, beds are very comfy. Our room was an ok size with small ensuite, all you need for a few days. Had tons of drawer space and wardrope space. Had free internet which I used though had a few problems connecting , other times it was great.T he sink is in the bedroom and not in ensuite, this didn't bother me at all .
All in all this was good value for the money we paid as its cheaper than most in centre. I would defo stay again when I come back to this area as its centre to every thing. You can use your car or the buses to get around, we did a few walks from here.Ambleside just along the road, Keswick also is close.
You can also get packed lunches made up for you' I didn,t notice this untill last day so don,t know how much these cost. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info , better go as I,m rambling on a bit :)

Room Tip: Ask for room 1, great view of hills and fields:)
