I returned to Lake View for few days in August and immediately felt at home. Everything about this B&B is spot on - comfortable room, spotless bathroom, wonderful views and a friendly welcome. The vegetarian breakfast was scrumptious and nothing was too much trouble, even for fuss pots like me! The location is just right - hidden away down a quiet lane but only a couple of minutes walk from the centre of the village, with beautiful gardens and a private riverside path down to the lake... what more could you ask for? I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my stay, and I will be back!

We were here for three nights mid-week staying in the Lake Room at the front of the property. Excellent breakfast choice and great service. The whirlpool bath was very relaxing and the sightings of badgers and an albino rabbit were very special. Good walking country, of course, with cultural highlights in Wordsworth's Dove Cottage and Ruskin's Brantwood. Good restaurants in the village without having to take the car out - Green's and Sara's Bistro particularly recommended. Would definitely come back and recommend.

We stayed at Lake View country house this bank holiday weekend and what a gem !! The setting was fantastic , beautiful gardens. We parked the car up and never needed it until it was time to leave. We stayed in the fellside suite and it was great having a sitting room as well as a bedroom and bathroom. Everything we could have needed was there !! The choice for breakfast was vast and always freshly cooked. All together a great place to stay very comfortable, friendly and ideally place ot sample the delights of Grasmere.

Room Tip: we had fellside suite -beatiful views over te gardens

We visited Grasmere for the show on the bank holiday weekend and were lucky enough to stay at Lake View.
Beautiful country house set down a cul de sac in some lovely countryside. Stunning house set amongst some breathtaking views. The grounds are gorgeous with lots of seating in the gardens.
We had the 'garden suite' which was huge with a separate lounge area. Lots of great little touches like a mini fridge and bottle opener, every possible toiletry that you could have forgotten, lovely products in the bathroom and the most extensive selection of teas, coffees etc that I've ever seen! Beds were very cosy and comfortable. Bathroom was spotless with a super duper power shower and fab soft towels.
The breakfast was amazing. Great selection of fruit, cereal, yoghurt etc to help yourself to and then delicious cooked brekkie. Vegetarians are very well catered for, as was my 5 year old!
The owners were very attentive and friendly. Very welcoming and great hosts. Their dog, Brock, was gorgeous too!
Possibly the most exciting aspect of our stay were the badgers that came out on an evening, could've watched them for hours!
Would highly recommend Lake View and I know we'll be visiting again soon.

Off a pleasant ally in the village you will find a garden opening to Grasmere Lake and at the door is Michelle to greet you. Part of the charm of a B&B is provided by the owner and Michelle has just the right ability to make you welcome, respect your privacy and easy the conversation among guests at breakfast. Scrambled eggs (full english is available but there are some alternatives and lots of fruits, museli, etc. We lingered for a chat with other travelers one morning and settled the worlds dilemmas before setting off around the lake walk with a copy of the path provided by Michelle. Easy walk in the rain or not to restaurants "the Potted Out" and "Tweedies" (skip the dove bistro at the Wadsworth) and yes there are badgers to be seen on the lawn and night and we did! beautiful

Room Tip: we stayed in Lake View Room which has a sitting area and as we were there for 3 nights it allowed us...

We have just spent 2 nights here in great weather .. the house is in a great position for the lake and grasmere .. the gardens are perfect, the breakfast is perfect, the host is great its just a shame the ivory room (for 2) is so small. Having said this it has a great shower and toiletries and is spotlessly clean. So do choose to stay here but check the other rooms they may be larger

Room Tip: Not the ivory room

Hello Pete,
We're really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and thank you for your compliments on our cleanliness,I will be sure to tell Esther, she'll be very happy . For us, it's one of the most important things we can do,along side a good breakfast,of course!
Yes,we know that the Ivory Room is small compared with our other rooms that have their own sitting rooms,if anyone phones us us to book we always let them know so we hope that it didn't spoil your stay,it's actually a pretty little room with a fantastic shower with body jetsand it''s cheaper, for anyone else that might be interested.
Hope to see you again in one of our other rooms.

Thanks,Michelle and Steve
