Frist of all the good things , great secluded location , great breakfast , good room , nice lounges , wildlife ( we seen two deer less than ten feet away ) great ambience when you return at night the warm and welcoming hall / reception area is excellently candlelit , coal fires everywhere , great walks on your doorstep dont miss Loughrigg Fell but be sure to start from Ambleside for the fabulous views when you reach the Fell. Bad things weird rules on check in , check in is 3pm check out 10.30am quite a turn around gap but the strangest thing is you cant enter the hotel on your first day until 3.01 pm told you it was weird ! And £8 to drink a bottle of wine in your room ! But overall a good hotel as long as you understand the strange rules upon check in .
