“Poor takeaway food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2014

We have been using Heidi's to purchase sandwiches and cake during our cycling trips and always found the quality to be excellent. However this year things have changed. The sandwich filing options were much reduced and the bread of poor quality. All in all very tasteless. The cakes appear to be unchanged but something seems to have changed for the worse at this place. I hope it can be put right soon as I fear this business will suffer.

“Lakeland Smokey a winner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

Squeezed into this lovely cafe on Easter Sunday for a late lunch with 4 hungry children. Our 6 year old daughter was not on her best behaviour unfortunately but the staff were very helpful at distracting her from her tantrum. Despite being very busy, the service was quick and the waitresses very personable. I went for the Lakeland smokey (smoked cheese on toast) which was fantastic. The kids all opted for sausage baguettes. Food was excellent quality. Will definitely visit again on our next visit to Grasmere - the cakes looked fantastic but after so many easter eggs we just didn't have room.

“Carry on Carlton!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014 via mobile

Ok, I'll admit we were aiming for Baldry's, but as that was full the four of us found ourselves squeezing in to Heidi's. We settled ourselves at a table, and the waiter asked us what we would like, but as we hadn't seen a menu yet we were unsure. When we said this, the waiter rolled his eyes and sauntered off. It became clear from the "loud" (for loud read have personality) staff that the waiter's name was Carlton, and once you were used to him, what a trooper! The service was excellent, especially during a really busy period we had arrived during, and the coffee, hot chocs, scones (with jam and clotted cream) and sausage baguette were all top notch. I don't know if the prices have changed, but I'm sure the baguettes were £5.95 each, so they obviously respond to customer feedback. My parents have vowed to head back here next time they are in Grasmere, and I'll certainly be returning in the future.

“Friendly and cosy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

We have been visiting Heidi's for several years now and are never disappointed! The food is always delicious - and so filling that we need to take pudding with us for the walk back to the car. A big plus for walkers is that they are dog friendly - Benny is always remembered by the staff and greeted with a biscuit or a sausage. A lovely little walking stop - highly recommended!
