5 nights of pure indulgence! The food was out of this world - make sure you book the dinner/B&B option! You will not be disappointed. Add this to the amazing location, the fabulous room, the excellent hospitality of Simon and Glynis and you have the perfect recipe for a fantastic break.

Room Tip: The Iris (Room 2) has a balcony with sunloungers which was nice to relax on after a days walking wit...

Lovely hotel with comfortable accomodation. The food was exceptional. Fine dining indeed! Very impressed with the effort that had been made to provide a wheat free option on the menu. Top marks.

My wife and I have just returned from a weekend break in Grasmere. We stayed at the Oak Bank Hotel and loved every minute of it. The hotel is very well positioned just a minutes walk from the village centre. We stayed in the Iris room which benefited from a large balcony overlooking the garden. The room was very niceley decorated, clean and comfortable.

The hotel owner (sorry didn't ask his name), was really pleasant and attentive, as was the Spanish waitress and nothing was too much trouble.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the food is very, very good indeed. It is refreshing to pick from a menu which is imaginative and the quaity and presentation of the food is exemplary; compliments to the chef(s).

Grasmere is a delightful place and we will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future.

My wife and I had a very good break at this wonderful well positioned country house style hotel. The owners and staff were friendly, attentive and seem to really enjoy what they were doing - especially the very nice young spanish waitress.

The bedroom/ensuite were of a very good standard. It was useful having free WiFi on tap.

Specia mention must be made of the excellent food. The breakfast was up to the high standard one would expect. It was in the evening that the hotel excelled. With a good and reasobale wine list the evening meal was a delight, no need to go outside, the food will not be bettered, absolutely superb.

All in all a very enjoyable break in the Lakes, enhanced by staying at the Oak Bank Hotel

We stayed here a few weeks ago for my partners birthday week, I chose it as I previously stayed here for a night back in 2006 (it was nice back then).
The owners have changed and the hotel has got even better, there is a nice friendly relaxed atmosphere throughout the hotel, the bar and lounge area are very clean and comfortable!!
We stayed in room 1 and it was perfect for the 2 of us, everything was clean and tidy and we had a great view of the hotels immaculate garden. It was also very well decorated.
The food is the best feature of the hotel, we booked breakfast and evening meal as part of our stay which we didnt regret, plenty of choice at breakfast (cereal, kippers, full english etc) and the same with the 4 course evening meal, it was different every night with food that is delicious!! 5 stars to the chef!
There are plenty of great local walks to try with scenery that is unrivalled, we love walking so it was amazing! To top it off my partner and I got engaged here which made the whole holiday even better!
Thanks to all the staff for their professional and helpful attitude, we will definitely stay again.

What can I say - the hotel is lovely - the rooms are really clean, comfortable, stylish and quiet and the food is AMAZING! I cannot believe what they turned out from the kitchen here - I could have put on 50lbs if we hadnt been walking all day!!! Would stay there again in a heart beat!

We have just stayed at the Oak Bank in Grasmere, 24th & 25th June to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. I cannot in anyway begin to describe the way that we were treated throughout our stay, other than to say it was SUPERB.
The rooms are excellent - we had 3 between our group- each one unique and beautifully presented, spotlessly clean and with everything that anyone could need
Breakfast was a meal worth waking up for. All locally sourced ingredients and everything served in an impeccable way.
Evening meal went above and beyond our expectations, nothing short of Master Chef food. Each course was a treat, just waiting and wondering how it would look and taste was enough to whet the appetite and then when it was served it just took our breathe away.
Our hosts were the kindest, most helpful, friendly and sincere people that we have ever come across and we will definately be returning. Hopefully next time we will remain dry!
Glynis and Simon - a million thanks
