“Great b&b”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We stayed at dunmail for 5 nights, we were given a warm welcome, cases taken to our room, tea & coffee and cakes in the lounge then we were left to our own devices. When we went in our room the 1st thing we noticed was how clean it was, the rooms are quite small and bathrooms even smaller but as you are only in the room to sleep it wasn't a problem. The breakfast were lovely everything very fresh and nothing to much trouble. There was a guest lounge &as the rooms were quite small this was great..
Thanks Shirley & tony for a great stay

Room Tip: If I stayed again I would ask for room 3 as this is at the back so you can't here the main road...

We are delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and pleased you were able to meet up with your friends John and Val in our comfortable guest lounge and chat about your days walking. Your knowledge of the local walks and how many of these you managed to complete during your stay, despite inclement weather on some days, was impressive. We are pleased we could help with dry boots and coats.
Dunmail House was built in the early 1900's as a traditional lakeland home and the rooms reflect this. We are pleased you were able to relax with friends and enjoy a good nights sleep in one of our new five foot beds.
Thank for taking the time to write a review and we do hope to see you again in the future.

Thank you both for your lovely review, we really appreciate each one.

Even though you missed out on walking the Fairfield Horseshoe due to the snow drifts you certainly walked many miles on the different and variable walks available from our door.

It is great to know you will be back and we will be waiting with a warm welcome and another enjoyable stay.

All our best wishes

Just returned home from Grasmere today. At Dunmail House there is always a warm welcome, comfortable rooms and top jolly breakfasts. A perfect base for hill-walking and no need to use the car! You can also walk to several excellent restaurants in the village.
Having sampled many other hostelries in the area, in my view, this one is the best for a relaxed stay, whether you are travelling as a family, singly or as a couple.

Room Tip: All rooms have fabulous views of the fells. My choice would be 1,2,3 or 4!

I went to Dunmail House for a retreat. The house is very homely, clean and comfortable. I spent a lot of time in the guest lounge relaxing and admiring the view. I'm a fussy eater and never really feel I get value for money because everywhere I go breakfasts are standard. At Dunmail House it is very person centered. They had a wide and varied selection, I ended up having a 3 course breakfast and found I didn't need to eat again until 5-6pm. I was very impressed and have got to say Dunmail's breakfast is the best I've had in any B&B by far. Well done Tony & Shirley, you're both great hosts;-)

It was so nice to meet you Denise and we are delighted you were warm and cosy in our guest lounge and that you felt relaxed after your few days staying with us, away from your usual stress of work.

Your kind comments about our breakfast are very much appreciated. Wherever possible all the food we serve is sourced locally and of the very best quality. We are very happy it set you up for the day.

We hope to see you again in the future and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to write your super review.

We have been to Dunmail House 4 times each time it has been our pleasure to enjoy the personal attention of the owners Shirley and Tony. We so much enjoy the comfort of the whole of the accomodation , the bedrooms /ensuite, lounge , and breakfast room. The breakfast choices and quality are first class and second to none. A great deal of attention is given to the quality and furnishings of the spotless Dunmail House .The gardens and seating provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountain views.

A big thank you from Val and Doug from Canterbury Kent.

Room Tip: All first class

Many thanks Val and Doug not only for choosing to stay with us again but also for taking time to write a review on your latest visit.

It is always a pleasure to see you and we are delighted that on this visit you were able to see snow on the Grasmere fells for the first time. The blue sky and the snow certainly make the views even more stunning.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We have been visiting Dunmail House Bed and Breakfast for about the last 8 years. Shirley and Tony are excellent hosts. There is nothing which is too much trouble for them. The selection given for breakfast is wonderful and you will not leave the breakfast table hungry that is for sure. My husband's favorite is scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The accommodation is first class, very comfortable, lovely en-suite rooms with flat screen televisions and plenty of DVDs to chose from if you want to relax in your room after a long day out. Tea and coffee facilities in the room which is a must for me as I like my "cup of tea" first thing in a morning and last thing at night. Talking of the rooms I must mention the views, they are to die for. There is also a very comfortable residents lounge which you can relax in which is home from home. A beautiful rear garden with stunning views which in the nice weather you can also sit and relax. Both my husband and I would highly recommend this beautiful accommodation.

Room Tip: We personally like all the rooms whichever chosen you would not be disappointed.
