“Double Entendre was a piece of cake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

After a 15 mile walk, I fell into Grasmere covered in mud and into Baldry's tearoom. They have a fabulous array of cakes and pastries, tables inside and out. perfect for watching other walkers hobble by. I had the most delicious carrot cake and a pot of tea. A warning though, when the very charming but undeniably cheeky chap brings you a slice of cake as big as your head, do not exclaim in carrying tones 'Gosh that's massive!!!!!'...unless you're fully prepared to accept the consequences.....!!!

“Not Bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

Large scone, chocolate cake, tea and a coke for a tenner.

Cakes were a bit dry but ok. the decor is very old english tea room and very nice. However i do prefer Heidis opposite, there cakes are far nicer. At least produce wasnt dry.

Service was slow. only 4 people sitting in the team room and 3 serving. still no one come out to take the order, i had to go in. Maybe you were supposed to order at the till, not sure. In most other places the staff come to you.

Although food was oki give 2 as heidis opposite was far nicer. infact i have to say out of the 5 places i went to in the area this was the worst. I had expected so much more.

“Highly recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

A wonderful tea room: we enjoyed the best cream tea ever - the scones were ENORMOUS with generous portions of butter, cream and jam. Our pot of decaffeinated tea was expensive (£2.95 per person I think) but came with extra hot water so we had 2 or 3 large cups each.

“Very enjoyable and great cake selection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

I visited here based on other reviews and agree that the cake selection is great but a wee bit pricey. Their famous Lemon Meringue Pie is £6 for a slice however the slice is huge so you could easily share. There was 3 of us and we had a lovely bowl of soup each, cake and tea and the bill came to £30. I don't think that's too bad because the food was excellent quality but it's not a cheap cake venue. Worth visiting though and I'd recommend for a treat. The staff were excellent - very friendly.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

Order 2 sandwiches at £6.95 each which were nice but not worth 6.95. Plus £2.35 for a diet coke, ok but nothing special
