“Good modern restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

My wife and I ate here for our 40th anniversary. The meals are beautifully presented with lots of colour and time spent getting the looks just perfect. A modern twist on every course and a wine list that offered value and variety. The cheese board was impressive with a fine selection of cheeses from the county of Cumbria. Wife loved it as much as I.

“Excellent, delicious food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

We ate here following consistently high scores on Tripadvisor. Many of the hotel restaurants in the Lake District are good in their own right, and this was no exception. The food was very well presented, and usually, also tasted really good, with excellent flavours. Service was friendly. We thought it was reasonably priced.

Food was excellent in presentation and taste.
Selection of local cheeses for dessert were wonderful -we shared one portion between two and couldn't manage to finish.
Couldn't fault any of the food. It was all delicious

“Excellent value for money fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

We were a party of 7 who had dinner in the restaurant for my wifes birthday on 17th February.

The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere, cosy and a nicely relaxed. We arrived quite early (around 6:30) and after some drinks in the lounge were shown to our table. A noice feature of the restaurant is the staff who are all incredibly friendly and "human" (defined as neither stuffy nor too formal).

The food is very good and their is a excellent variety on offer. I think everyone in our group was happy with everyting they ate. In fact the restaurant were able to offer desserts that were not on the menu for our children who both have nut allergies.

The plates of food are not huge but overall the menu was very well balanced and - in my view - just about right.

For the quality of food on offer this is really very good value for money and I have eaten in restaurants where I have paid twice as much for food not half as good.
