“Beautiful but busy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2011

This is a stunning area and best in the evening when most people have gone home and you can enjoy the peace and beauty.
there's a great walk by the side of a stream with waterfalls down to Yew Tree Tarn.

“Calm, Quiet and Beautiful... Bliss”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

A very easy gently underlating walk in some very beautiful scenery. Good facilities with a decent sized car park. Make sure you have change for the car park pay and display (we paid £4 for 2 hours, free for NT members) Although if the NT rep is there he is happy to change notes for change.

“Beautiful View and Easy Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

The thing about the Lake District is the walking and the driving over wonderful land and around bucolic water features, as well as the charming towns of course. Well, Tarn Hows involves an interesting drive to an easy enjoyable walk around an end destination of unusual serenity and calm. It really is a great spot, well worth a few hours excursion.Bring your camera here.

“Beautiful and atmospheric”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2011

This is a lovely walk, around 2 miles long and fairly flat. It is ideal with younger children - we have done this walk with a pushchair and a toddler.

Beautiful in autumn and one of my favourite places in the Lakes.

“Excellent Introduction for Young Walkers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2009

Tarn Hows is an excellent introduction to lakeland walking for young children and the novice hiker. A leisurely walk around the lake will take no more than two hours with good gently undulating paths. There is a large car park with excellent toilet facilities and a small visitors centre, be warned it gets extremely busy, best to arrive early at weekends and school holidays if the weather is good.
