Just returned from a very enjoyable 4 day break with the family staying at Grizedale Lodge (our first visit). We can not find anything to fault. The hotel was warm, comfortable and welcoming, especially after a day walking and exploring. The choice and quality of the breakfast made a great start to the day, (the whisky porridge shouldn't be missed), so much so that we rarely bothered with lunch. The owners were very attentive and friendly without being overpowering. We had no hesitation in re-booking for next year.

The Hotel offers only bed & breakfast, which we prefer as it offers the opportunity of eating in the local restaurants (of which there are many excellent ones). As the nearest village with shops and restaraunts is approx. 2 miles away it is useful to have a car.

I have no hesitation in recommending a stay and hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.
