Chose this hotel since we were only stopping for the one night.
We found the hotel to be excellent value in all respects including the breakfast. We had just the week before stopped in a 4* hotel and found that this Travellodge was excellent value for just B & B. Yes it does not compare in total with 4* but for a short stay (or even longer) it was excellent and a serious difference in price! We will use it again.

To be honest this was our first experience of a Travelodge. After a looooong drive up from Nottingham we opened the door to our room and peaked inside - big smiles all round. First thing first - put the kettle on :-) The room was lovely and clean. The cot we had asked for was already set up for us. The room was nice and warm which was great as it was freezing outside! Last time we came up this way we stayed at the other big name place and the noise from other people was awful - but here at the Travelodge we didn't hear a single sound from anyone! it was so peaceful and we know there was other travellers as the carpark was full. The kids slept soundly and were full of energy by the morning time. My eldest (who is 4) didn't want to leave she loved it so much! We didn't have time to stay for breakfast in the morning, but the smells were blummin lovely!
When we come up again next year we will most definitely be staying at this hotel again.

Arrived for a weekend mountain biking. Check in was OK but the two guys checking us in were a bit scruffy. Room was great, comfy bed and warm enough to dry my wet biking gear. Had a couple of drinks and a late night pizza from the bar, both of which were excellent. Cockermouth close by so everything is good.

Stayed here 24th, 25th & 26th October. The staff were brilliant! Helpful and friendly-and all local. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again and indeed would look forward to it. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay very enjoyable-and appeared to actually enjoy their work. Well done!

We stay here quite often as it's a great location for a vintage car rally closed season. This time the staff were exceptional and changed rooms for us to twin bed, made recommendations for good pub food and organised us a taxi. The local firm is about £1 a head down and same back if more than six of you in taxi. Great pubs Castle inn and Bitter End. Wheatsheaf at Lorton also good but out of town. Rooms good, breakfast fine and you get a great nights sleep on the new beds. Cannot recommend it enough for budget and upmarket stay. I know the upgraded rooms are better but you can pay serious money in the lakes for complete rubbish accommodation in Keswick hotels. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Look at disabled rooms as have twin beds

This hotel is not a Premier Inn, not a Best Western, not a Holiday Inn or a Hilton - it's a Travelodge where you expect good basic value for money and cleanliness. Well this one in Cockermouth, just off the A66 roundabout near the Oakhurst Service Station is all of that and more. For a brilliantly low price and a one night stay on the occasion of a family celebration up in the Lakes it couldn't have been better. It occupies an excellent location just outside the town, with ample car parking spaces, and a service station nearby to fill up the car. I didn't expect too much from limited staffing in budget hotels like this, but they were superb, helpful, friendly and hard working - especially in the morning dealing with the small restaurant for guest breakfasts. That was a bonus - expected to have to eat out but there it was straight off the reception area, with choice of a Full English, Continental, cereals, fruit juice, tea, jam and toast - in fact the works. I'm told the hotel had recently been refurbished, so the room was as you'd expect and best in class. Just full marks to Travelodge and the staff for this particular hotel - a good one at an unbeatable weekend price.

Room Tip: Our room was ground floor and didn't disappoint.

good location, but lacked basic facilities in the room, not bedside table for glasses, phone or cup of coffee, tv had limited channels and no teletext available, for quick view of travel news or weather forecasts. Windows let in lots of noise and draft. luckily it quite mild weather. Staff were virtually none existant, on arrival a scruffy dressed lad gave us our key and information, on departure no staff around, the cleaner took our key!

Room Tip: premier Inns would be my first choice, having stayed at 2 others on the 2 previous nights in the are...
