“Amazing Lodge Just Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

I am writing this on behalf of my daughter Jodie and son-inlaw Peter they stayed over the May bank holiday for 5 days, they wanted to put a review on as Vanessa who owns the lodge and cottage was so helpful in every way,Alfie there son who is 6 years old was so happy that he helped Vanessa make a birthday cake she really does go that extra mile to make sure you have a good relaxing break superb person. She left champagne sweets flowers also in the Lodge
The baskets she left of a morning where a nice touch too full of nice goodies,They also had a jacuzzi in there lodge which they all used and said this was really nice of a evening sitting and watching the amazing views, they could see horses at the bottom of their garden. She also has a cottage which is just as nice as the lodge but no jacuzzi, but still has amzing views to.
they would recommend this to anyone not just for the luxury of the lodge but also for the superb welcoming of Vanessa.dont hesitate to book this

We've stayed at Anns Hill several times and have always been delighted with it. We've always been in the cottage which is beautiful. The bedroom has a huge bed and the bathroom with TV in the wall is fantastic. The breakfast baskets are lovely and we really like the fact that you can just wake up when you want to and it's just outside the front door waiting for you. It's a great location for walks in the North / West Lake District but it would be difficult without a car. Winter evenings snuggled up by the fire are really nice and the garden is beautiful for sunnier weather. I can't recommend Anns Hill highly enough and we will definitely return!

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and couldn't have chosen a better place! Cottage was absolutely amazing and Vanessa was so welcoming and honestly superb! This is by far the most relaxing place we have ever visited. We would both highly recommend the cottage and will definitely return.

We were lucky enough to stay at Anns Hill cottage for our wedding anniversary back in September. There simply aren't enough superlatives to describe how wonderful this place is, and every other review which says how wonderful it is explains how you must stay here.

Highlights for us of the cottage were:

* The bath - oh, the bath. With the TV next to it.

* The amazingly well stocked kitchen and free fizz on arrival

* The fantastic breakfast baskets with something different every day

* The beautiful log burner which Vanessa will happily come and rescue you with when you are too inept to light it yourself (and doesn't laugh at you either)

* The cutest calves in the barn opposite

* The pretty garden out front, complete with friendly dog who sometimes arrieves and will play fetch the stick with you for hours. And hours.

* Did we mention the bath?

We would go back tomorrow, in a heartbeat, and that's coming from a couple who vowed never to go anywhere twice. Don't hesitate to book this place as there is no way that you would ever regret it. You will, however, have unrealistic expectations for any bath in any self catering / hotel forever in the future.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, amazingly well equipped (including goggles for when you cut onions!!) - couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay as a surprise weekend away! Can't wait until we can go back again - hopefully soon!

This was our 5th trip to Annshill and as ever we could not fault it. Vanessa is a wonderful host and always willing to help or advise in any way she can. The bed is so comfortable that we bought one the same for at home but we still prefer the one here - must be to do with the fabulous surroundings. The place is absolutely spotless, even though we said not to bother cleaning the cottage halfway through our stay, just changing the linens was fine, we returned to find that Angela had cleaned it top to bottom and was even apologising that we hadn't got any fresh flowers! This is a good example of the attention to detail here. We can't wait to go back again. Our friends love staying in the secret suite and it was nice to be here in nicer weather - we usually visit in December.

We have just returned from our fourth visit to Ann's Hill, though our first time at the lodge since our family grew. I couldn't begin to decide if I prefer the cottage or the lodge as they are both just beautiful. My favourite part of both is the lovely roaring fire when the weather gets cool. The beds are so comfortable and warm, I wish I could bring one home with me. The bathtubs are huge and the showers are always hot with plenty of water. The kitchens are well equipped, although we don't do much cooking with so many great places to eat close by. The lodge has the added bonus of the hot tub, which is a lovely way to relax after a day out as well as the stunning views from the windows of the upstairs living room. The breakfasts are beautiful. I always leave Ann's Hill determined to make as much effort at home as Vanessa makes with her delicious baskets, but never quite manage it. Both places are immaculate and beautifully decorated. We would recommend a break at Ann's Hill to anyone. Vanessa is always informative, friendly and helpful, a perfect hostess who even takes the time to consider the children.
