We booked this through the Western Lake District site, primarily as they had online booking. We'd emailed several other places in Cockermouth and did not get responses. What luck!
Graysonside is a mile or so out of town, but it's set off the road and gives the appearance of entering a farm. The room was large and cozy with views of the courtyard and gardens. We arrived around 6 and
while Graysonside doesn't do dinners, the Hundith Hill Hotel across the road does, so we were spared getting back in the car.. Hundith Hill has a nice lounge bar, so it was easy to get a couple of pints as well.
Breakfasts were big and excellent and we enjoyed the views of the farm and gardens. While it would have been nice to be able to walk into Cockermouth, we didn't feel cheated as the room was so comfortable and the hosts, Janette and Andrew, were very welcoming. Cockermouth itself is charming and nicely located for exploring the northern part of the Lake District. (Don't miss the Jennings Brewery tour in Cockermouth). We would definitely stay at Graysonside again.
