Booking essential - unable to review food as we couldn't get in.
We were in Ambleside for a weekend, stopping at the Fisherbeck which is immediately opposite (I can highly recommend). After a long day we were out early to find somewhere to eat( around 6pm / 615pm). As The Log House was immediately opposite we thought we would try there. We walked in, we hadn't booked, I realise this is sometimes essential, but I think there was only one couple in at the time. We were informed they were expecting a large party in so couldn't fit us in. I may be wrong but unless the party were taking over the whole restaurant. I found it odd they couldn't squeeze us in. I did feel it was maybe more to do with our clothing for the evening( we were in (long)shorts etc)- it had been a hot day, and it is The Lakes after all. We have been to restaurants before and if they are busy, they have suggested " if you can vacate your table by a certain time - we can squeeze you in.
May be we'll get chance to try it on another occasion, the menu looked nice, but was a bit pricey compared to other places. I have to say I'd be tempted to try elsewhere first.
