“Lovely Weekend Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

Stayed here recently for the second time, first under the new owners though. The new owners are friendly and welcoming and have continued the good work in making this one of the best B&B's in Ambleside. The rooms are comfy and the bathrooms are very modern with a great shower. The breakfasts are a delight each morning and the homemade bread is so tasty.

Would definitely return in the future.

Great B&B very conveniently located a few minutes walk from Ambleside centre. We were welcomed with coffee and freshly baked cake, the room was lovely and breakfast just right with locally made sausages, bread and jams. A really enjoyable stay.

Enjoyed our stay at Haven Cottage. Very warm welcome to a very lovely cottage. The rooms are great and the breakfast is superb. Freshly baked bread and little puzzles to ease the mind in gently. Will definitely be staying again.

Friendly and welcoming hosts in Amanda and Rob. room was comfortable and clean. Excellent breakfast to start the day off, using local produce and home made bread. Ideally located in the centre of Lake District for both walking and driving into beautiful scenery.

Room Tip: Although we didn't stay in Room 8 we did take a peak and would recommend you book this one if yo...

We very much enjoyed our stay in this stylish, tasteful and welcoming B&B, which lived up to recommendations. Hosts Amanda and Rob are both delightful and helpful and we were welcomed with a pot of tea and freshly made cakes. Breakfast was freshly cooked using locally sourced ingredients. Haven cottage is perfectly located within a few minutes walk of the town centre and it's many amenities. Would very much recommend.

Amanda and Robert are excellent hosts who have only taken over in the last couple of months. Robert came out to warmly greet us as we drove in, offering help with bags etc. We stayed for 3 nights, moving after the first as we had booked late and a returning wedding anniversary couple wanted to stay where they had honeymooned. Both rooms on the second floor are well designed and appointed, with good ensuite showers. Breakfast dining very relaxed with plenty of personal space, good variety of food on offer and with local quality ingredients where possible. Even table puzzles to keep you amused. There are a selection of drinks available in the lounge and a seating area outside with views over a field and the path to the river. Shops are 3 minutes walk and buses available just outside useful for walkers. A great place to stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 2 & 3

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights to escape the stresses of everyday life In Berkshire and "walk and talk" for a few days in the beautiful scenary and surroundings of the Lake District.

Amanda and Rob are great hosts and make "life" at Haven Cottage relaxing and easy. Our room (room 8) was spacious with stunning views of the fells and a great balcony on which to enjoy a chilled glass of wine before dinner. The bathroom is very spacious and the deep free standing bath and separate power shower a godsend to ease those aching limbs after all day walking. The "his and her wash basins" were also a welcome facility.

Haven Cottage is only a few minutes stroll into Ambleside which has a great choice of restaurants and pubs. We recommend The Log House, Dodds (Italian) and The Old Stamp House. The walk to Rydale Water and the Caves are only 20-30 minutes on foot and make a nice evening walk before dinner. The Skelwith Bridge walk (3-4 hours) is one of the best walks near Ambleside.

Breakfast was a filling affair and a good start to each day. We really enjoyed our stay and room 8 in particular with all its facilities and stunning views. Haven Cottage has a deservedly high reputation and rating and we appreciate the effort Amanda and Rob put in to their B&B to make it so enjoyable. We will definitely return again.

Room Tip: Room 8 is special, spacious and has stunning views from the double doors of the bedroom.
