“Perfect peace”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

This was our first visit but it won't be our last! Beautiful peaceful surroundings and wonderful hospitality. Our room was first class and nothing was too much trouble. We can't recommend it highly enough. Go and experience perfect peace.

Room Tip: We were in a junior suite room 7

This was our first visit and we stayed here for 2 nights from 19th July 2013. The hosts Glynn and Dee were so helpful and made us feel very welcome. The room exceeded our expectations and the bed and pillows were so very comfortable, everywhere was clean and tidy and beautifully decorated. The breakfast really set us up for the day and Glynn was on hand with tea and coffee on our return, nothing was too much trouble for Glynn and Dee.
The views were breathtaking and the hotel was fantastically placed for exploring.
We will definitely be back and cannot wait to recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.

This was our second time at West Vale. The standard of the rooms and service are well worthy of the five stars. You will not be disappointed with the breakfast, it’s amazing. The location is absolutely perfect if you want to relax and explore the fantastic countryside and then enjoy an evening meal at one of the two pub’s within easy walking distance from West Vale.
We are now looking forward to our third visit to West Vale.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, 2nd and 3rd July. When we arrived it was raining and we weren't inclined to venture out so we sampled two of Glynn's platters and freshly made coffee which he served in their lovely lounge. The platters were absolutely gorgeous with a variety of local meats and cheeses - highly recommended! The room and bathroom were spotless and Molton Brown toiletries are always nice to see! The complimentary sherry is a nice touch and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, we tried both the cooked and buffet. Dee's lemon posset is divine! The whole ambience at breakfast is so relaxing, from the quiet background music to the excellent service. We have stayed in 5 star hotels which haven't provided the level of service that West Vale does and would highly recommend a stay.

Me and wife have just returned from a weekend here, and have to say the b&b was lovely, we could not fault it at all, from the sherry in the room to the very tasty breakfasts, (my wife thought the lemon possett was the best she has ever tasted! ). The hosts were very welcoming and informative, a lovely couple, they couldnt have done more for us, what was a extra nice was a little 'treat' they gave us on our return home to apologise for something that was at no fault to them and at no point ruined our stay. If we was ever to return to the village again we would gladly stay here with no hesitation , there are only 2 pubs near the hotel, so a good place if your going to explore the country side but it is across the lakes from restaurants/shops etc, both pubs are also very welcoming and both offer good food, as i say if you want a quiet, peacful stay i would recommend West Vale,

We have just spent 5 nights at the West Vale Country house. The room was lovely, views great, breakfast was really nice and service was very friendly. HOWEVER .. When we booked the room we informed them we had a boat and asked if they could accommodate it, at the time we were told that it was fine and we could put it in a farmers field. We called up two days before we where due to arrive to confirm this was still ok, only to be told that he was going to call us the following day to inform us that he could not accommodate the boat anymore. We asked if there was an alternative to which the owner seemed fairly uninterested to resolve. We had to push for a solution to be found. In the end we were told we could bring the boat however we would have to pay for this privilege per night. Had we have known sooner we may have decided to book elsewhere, but given the extremely short notice this would not have been possible. We feel considering how much the hotel cost in the first place that this should have been subsidized on their part not ours.

Many thanks for your kind comments. However, Re; Boat original booking stated possibly bringing a 14ft boat could we accommodate No but we did say on a previous occasion farmer had allowed them to park in his yard not field also there would be a cost implication.Due to work being carried out he could not oblige,Guest was informed of this and asked for alternatives,
The local community center agreed £5 per 24hrs x 5 days £25 money to be placed in the honesty box daily guest informed,Day before check out the chair of the community center informed me that no monies had been paid, box emptied nightly, at check out I informed the guest he assured me he would sort it
Approx 30mins later the chairman of the community center arrived not very happy and holding a handful of coins totaling £3.48 and 4 euros this evidently from our guest as no one else was on the car park. Tried to contact the guest so he could explain, to no avail voice mail only
As we are a small community and the center relies on honesty donations for the up keep of the car park and I do not think the guest had any intention of ever paying for the car park.
As a consequence of this we paid his car park fee.
The guest paid NOTHING apart from £3. 48 and 4 euros.

Sleepy Sunday morning and we will be leaving after breakfast,a perfect end to a perfect but short three night stay.
West vale is in an ideal spot for exploring the most beautiful scenery this country has to offer.
The whole experience puts many other hotels to shame, everything is immaculate, the en-suite was spotless with huge soft white towels, we have room 5, which was immaculate with everything you could need in a room, very nice size flat screen TV, extremely comfy bed which gave us three good nights rest after all that walking.
Breakfasts are extensive and of a very high quality with local produce being the order of the day.
Glynn and Dee are the perfect hosts genuinely lovely people who make you feel welcome from the moment you book. Thanks guys hope to stay with you again for longer next time.
