Just returned from a 3 night break at lake house hotel in Ambleside. The hotel is set in nice grounds in a good location, very impressive from the road. This extends through the reception and into the breakfast area but unfortunately the room was only average for what we paid. We had dirty tea cups on the hospitality tray, and when the towels were renewed they were damp when we came to use them. Breakfast was buffet service we have no problem with this but on 3 out of 3 occasions the breakfast was barely warm and plates were not even clean. However the staff were all friendly but there are a lot of better places to stay in Ambleside for less money than here.

Just returned from a one night stay here. The hotel is lovely and clean, and very quiet. Although I wouldnt be keen on stopping in rooms 1 or 2 as they are on the ground floor near the breakfast area. The breakfast is a serve yourself style and was lukewarm rather than hot, this is the only small fault with the hotel. I would defintely stop again as the location was excellent.

Gorgeous hotel. Everything was immaculate. Great value for money, perfect location. Friendly staff and homely atmosphere. Would absloutly recommend and will visit again. Walking vicinity to lake Windermere and Ambleside town centre.

We were lucky enough to win a 2 night stay at the Lake House Hotel including dinner at its sister hotel The Regent. We had no problem in booking and they were very helpful.

On arrival we were shown to room no. 1, I was disappointed it was on the ground floor and right next to the breakfast room & reception however they cant be blamed for this as I had not requested otherwise. However the room was nicely decorated and very clean and spacious. As long as you don't want a lie in the room is lovely.

Breakfast is served 8:30 till 10:00 and there is a nice choice of hot and cold items. We found the service to be friendly and the hotel had a lovely comfortable atmosphere.

If you book DB&B the evening meal is served at the Regent hotel which is just over the road. I would not recommend this. The food is nicely presented but very pretentious and the meal is very rushed. You are given barely 2 minutes between courses and rushed off your table as soon as you finish eating so they can re use it. We found the whole experience very snobby and off putting. There are several much nicer places to eat within walking distance.

Overall I would recommend this hotel although I would ask for an upstairs room and be aware you are getting what you pay for as the prices are quite high. Watch out for the special break offers!
