We stayed here in september during probabily the worst weather of the month, most of the roads had fallen branches and there was a real risk of flooding.
However this dident matter we had a great time in part due to the warm reception and the fantastic breakfasts we had at the riverside hotel.
Simply the best breakfast of any place we have ever stayed, the home made bread really was amazing as was the personalised service (even all are names-good memory!)
the location was ideal, far enough away from 'town' to be peaceful but close enough to walk 10-15mins pleasant stroll (not to far even in bad weather!) perfect compromise in my mind an plenty of parking space which is a real premium in the lakes.
The rooms were average size not massive (but you wouldent expect that from what is basically a huge house), i thought it was the right balance, spa bath, great views, enough room to store away bags etc.
As mentioned in other reviews you simply wont get a warmer welcome or a better breakfast anywere.
Prices are reasonable but booking may be a problem as there are limited rooms an its simply too popular- plan well ahead to get a room its well worth it, highly recommended.
