“Just adored this place and the food + atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Such a lovely little place, tucked away behind the main drag of Ambleside. Really fast service, great quality ingredients. Wish it was a local cafe near me...

“Excellent brekkie.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

I have eaten hear a few times and it continues to be the best place for a fry up in Ambleside. Shame the shop has gone, but does not distract from the quirkiness of this restaurant. Serves a lovely breakfast, both full and baps!!! Excellent value for money. A must when in Ambleside.

“Still a bit shambolic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Yet again, no buns available so breakfast buns were served in sliced bread, and yet again the egg came out hard. Service friendly but fairly hopeless and slow. On the plus side - some good magazines to read.

“Relaxed, cosy, proper grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

I have enjoyed a hearty breakfast here on 3-4 occasions now, as Bilbo's is now my go to breakfast place in Ambly. Yes, as some people have mentioned the sofas are saggy & used, but I like that, the place is dog & family friendly. You can get a wheelchair in, with accessible loo just across the road. Cost & quality of food good with decent portion size. I just like the relaxed feel of the place, no corporate identity being shoved down your throat a great & mug of char.

“Great mug of tea :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014

Stumbled across Bilbo's by accident and fancied a brew and a brew is exactly what you got. No fancy teapots and cups with silly prices but a proper pint pot mug and milk, sugar etc to add as required for less than most cafés in the area. Didn't eat here but it smelt good and I'd def return to try it :)
