“Great base for walking the Lakeland Fells”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

As you can see we went back again for a couple more nights in March!
We love walking the hills and this B&B is central for some of the Lakes fabulous walks. Our hosts, Fiona & Tina are both knowledgeable of the area and helped us with suggestions. Red Screes, Fairfield Horseshoe, Wandsfell pike paths are all on the doorstep, perfect.

A couple of minutes walk and you're in the centre of Ambleside with a numerous choice of pubs, cafes and convenience stores to stock up with rucksack supplies and theres a Greggs Bakery :-)

Another reason for returning again & again is the wonderful welcome, the warm, comfortable and very clean bedrooms, free wifi access and of course a fabulous hearty breakfast.

Guess what, we'll be back, Thanks xx

Room Tip: Had a fab room overlooking the fells from the front of the house.

Good location, friendly owners. Extremely clean. Great breakfast. Only thing to improve would be the tv in the room. It didn't really matter though as I visit the lakes to be in the great outdoors or the restaurants and pubs, not watching the telly.

We have just returned from our 3rd visit to Chapel House, that says it all ! We arrived in the early evening to a very warm welcome after a journey down from The Highlands.
The bedroom was large, comfortable, extremely clean and tidy with a lovely ensuite with a great shower and plenty of hot water. After a fantastic sleep we woke to an overnight snowcover with views across the village to "The Fairfield Horseshoe"
The breakfast room is bright and spacious and we enjoyed a well prepared tasty full cooked English breakfast, set us up for the day. Throughout our stay Fiona & Tina were perfect hosts and helped us with local advice and suggestions.
The B&B is central to the lovely village of Ambleside with pubs cafes and shops within a short walk. If you're visiting for the walking environment there are numerous popular paths for the surrounding hills and Chapel House is in an ideal position to base yourselves.

We have already recommended Chapel House to friends and hope to return again when we get the chance to revisit The Lakes.

Have a lovely Christmas & all the best for 2013
Ken & Martin.

Room Tip: We stopped in room number 3, with views across to the hills.

This B&B is situated within a couple of minutes walk of the center of Ambleside. Host was helpful and came out to help us park. Breakfast was cooked to perfection and the fruit was fresh each day. The room was small and the ensuite minuscule, with the noisiest flushing toilet I have ever experienced. The shower was cold on the first morning and the heating did not seem to be put on until we were actually in the room. However, for the price I paid it was OK.

Room Tip: Room 6 has a good view, in the front so some noise from the road, extremely noisy flushing toilet.

We spent 3 nights at Chapel House in a comfortable room with a good bed. The breakfast was very good. The location is excellent - close to the main part of Ambleside yet away from the noise. Fiona was very helpful, asking about our plans each day, warning us to avoid an area where a major triathlon was taking place and giving us various tips and advice. I would definitely recommend Chapel House to anyone planning a trip to the Lakes - and Ambleside is a good place to use as a base for exploring the rest of the Lake District.

My friend and I stayed in this guest house for two nights and found it to be quite lovely. The breakfast was great value in itself and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. the staff were courteous and friendly (and not overly forceful!) and it is right on the edge of the main road, which was great.

Very good value. We stayed in a small but very comfortable room which was very clean and looked newly decorated, and the bed was really comfy. Excellent breakfast and the host was really helpful advising us on local walks which we did! Fantastic location 30 seconds to nearest pub and ambleside is great in the evening with loads of pubs all doing food at very reasonable prices especially the White Lion who have offers on every day Friday night we had a main course and a glass of wine cost us £16.
