Just read the review of Red Bank and had to add my own just to reiterate that this B&B is the best one we have stayed in in the Lake District. The rooms are more spacious than any other B&B I have stayed in. This, together with the extras and the friendliness of the hosts, make Red Bank an exceptional place to stay. Extras include a glass of sherry as an aperitif before you go out for your evening meal, the fridge on the landing with fresh milk and space for you to chill your own wine, and the offer of a pot of tea in front of the log fire mid afternoon when we returned absolutely soaked from a walk on the fells! We have stayed at Red Bank a few times now and I would recommend Red Bank to anyone. The breakfast room is beautiful also, looking out onto the garden where there are lots of birdfeeders on the patio. Private car parking is a real bonus in Ambleside and Red Bank is only a tiny bit more expensive than your normal B&B. More than worth it and still cheaper than many.
