“Was a great cinema - once!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013 via mobile

When you walk into the Odeon in Hull it looks like any other cinema, clean modern and welcoming. However, once you've bought your tickets and move towards the screens it's a very different story. It's so dated and in need of some serious money to get it back into shape. In the ladies toilets none of the toilets would flush and the seats in the cinema as old fashioned and very uncomfortable.

I think this cinema has suffered at the hands of the other Cuban chains in Hull. The Odeon is now on the outskirts of the city centre, which now has 2 cinemas as well as being the most expensive option in the city, it's not surprising that people aren't interested in going here. I only went because it was the only cinema showing the performance I wanted to see, and even then I couldn't watch it anyway as there was a "technic fault" and the film crashed. We did get a full refund (including Internet booking fee) and free cinema passes to be used another time. Only problem is now I have go go back to the Odeon to use it.

“An older cinema which just doesn't have the necessary quality and style”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

I visited this cinema to watch an advance viewing of The Croods in 2D. Whilst the booking process on-line via the smartphone app was a much better experience than either Vue or Cineworld, the rest of the experience was less positive.

The good:
- The prices for tickets were very good value
- There were sufficient ticket machines for advance ticket buyers to avoid any queues

The bad:
- A £1:40 charge to park outside the cinema. We could have parked further away in Kingston Retail Park, but that would involve crossing a fairly dangerous road.
- The décor of the cinema was tired and there were old film displays piled in a corner by the entrance. This does not present an inviting sight for visitors, particularly when coupled with the ripped carpets elsewhere in the foyer.
- The seats had a higher back than more modern cinemas, when this was coupled with the unbelievably high and small screen, this made it difficult for smaller children to see the film, even with a booster seat.
- As mentioned above, screen 3 contains a really small screen. As a result, watching the film was not a particularly immersive experience.

Overall, I would not recommend this cinema, as there are others in Hull which offer a better overall experience for pretty much the same price.

“So Cold!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

Went to see Les Mis when we were visiting Hull. You have to pay to park, then claim the cost back from the staff. Only a very few couples in the cinema. Needs updating as it seems out of date now compared to other venues in Hull. It was really very cold, most of the couples we saw were elderly and all had coats on. I complained to the staff and eventually the turned the cold air conditioning off. Would pick a different venue next time.
