“tremendous value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

we stayed at this hotel on Saturday 2nd March as part of a weekend deal from National Holidays and were very impressed with the whole experience. The restaurant was run like a well oiled machine - pleasant and efficient staff and the food was exceptional.Although it is obviously an old hotel the rooms were spacious and the furnishings modern. Will definitely stay there again.

Just spent two nights at this hotel and found everything to be first rate. Ok so the view from the room was of the station roof but if you go for a break and spend time looking out of the window instead of enjoying the charms of this majestic hotel then you will be disappointed. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the reception to the chambermaids. The lads behind the bar were great and a special mention for Victoria in the restaurant and the lady who ran the breakfast operation. Smiles, conversation and extremely accomodating to all the guests young and old. Many Thanks.

Was a bit apprehensive about staying here as it's in a noisy location, however we were very pleasantly surprised. We had room 115, which was a bit on the small side but it was on a corner so no noise from either side as I think it was a cupboard on the other side. The window looked out over the inside of the station right onto the platforms which was a bit odd but ok as it was away from the traffic at the front and the double glazing did keep out the noise from the platform. The curtains did need a good wash though but the bedding and beds were ok, comfortable and clean. Bathroom was nice with plenty of hot water and a good powerful shower over the bath. Breakfast was lovely, plenty on offer, cooked, toast, fruit, croissants and all the tea and coffee you can drink. Evening meals were nice too, though the Friday night meal was much better than the Saturday night pork meal which consisted of some dodgy mash (yucky mustard taste) green beans which could be described as raw rather than al dente and very small portion of pork compared with the large chicken breast the night before.

Staff here are great, every one of them was polite and helpful couldn't ask for better service. Bar prices as in all hotels was high so we didn't buy much from the bar but as the hotel is in the middle of town there is no need to have coffee here as there is plenty out and about. Yes we would stay here again it was ideal for what we wanted.

Room Tip: Our corner room was very quiet, didn't have any neighbours either side.

Friendly staff, excellant location in the heart of town and good sized rooms. A good quality 3 to 3 and a half star hotel slowly growing old.

Well worth selecting for a stay in Hull and for what it is worth a short walk from the historical centre of Hull or the KC stadium where Hull City play!!!

Good value at the price charged.

Room Tip: We went to the bar for a drink and snack and they were slow and fairly ordinary. They didnt have a s...

Went on a three day Coach Trip and were let in well before we usually were at other Hotels. A very large Hotel but very limited parking which didn't matter as we were taken there.
Rooms adequate in size but the beds very comfortable. The Wife slept like a log both nights, a thing she usually cannot do whilst away. Evening meals were very tasty with plenty of variety. Breakfasts were as other places we have stayed at but was the only place that served up scrambled egg which was not runny nor floating in in liquid.
Queen Victoria stayed there with Albert and five of her children and enjoyed it so who am I to argue. A Very enjoyable couple of nights.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the inside and not adjacent to the Station.
