“Well worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

The Ferens is a smashing art gallery, right in the centre of Hull. I always look in here, whenever I am in Hull, and I'm never disappointed. It is free to get in, there's a lovely café, and a gift shop too.
Well worth a visit.

“Great permanent exhibition, fantastic touring exhibitions.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

The Ferens is a superb gallery which punches well above its weight. In the last year alone I've seen exhibitions by Martin Creed, Warhol and DaVinci - the permanent exhibition is great, especially the photography room with work by Thomas Ruff, Nan Golding and Francesca Woodman amongst others.

“Ferens Art Gallery, Hull”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

I enjoy taking my grandson in , looking at our favourite pieces, checking out new ones, and usually ending up in the children's section on the 2nd floor. It has excellent visiting exhibitions, usually of national importance, and the annual open exhibition for allcomers is always well worth a visit or 2.

“Small (well not that small really) but perfectly formed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This is a lovely art gallery - the temporary exhibitions are always of the highest standard and the permanent exhibition is worth coming back to see again and again. The collection of Dutch and Flemish paintings is considered to be one of the very best outside of London but the overall range of artists and styles is so wide that everyone will find something to stop and admire and the collection size is just right for an afternoon's wander. The logia cafeteria is a great place to enjoy a snack or cup of coffee and adds to the gallery's welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

“Peaceful oasis away from the shops”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

I have been going to Ferens for a while now and always find something to interest me. The collection is well displayed over a number of galleries and rooms on two floors. The recent Leonardo, Warhol and Hockney exhibitions were such a wonderful opportunity to see art in Yorkshire and recent purchases of Renaissance works will add to the collection very well. I always gain a great sense of peace in the gallery where you can sit and contemplate the works with no need to rush. It is very calming. The 'Loggia' cafe is very good and the gift shop sells some interesting things at various prices. Free to enter (as many of Hull's museums are) this is a great place to visit.
