“Lovely and friendly hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

The hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished and the room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. The service was very helpful and friendly. We had a meal in the hotel which was homemade and great value for money. Its a few minutes walk to the city centre. We definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again.

We arrived at the hotel a bit late but Bev was there to greet us, help us with our luggage and made a booking for a restaurant (as it was late and the pub was not serving food at the time). The room was amazing ! Four poster bed, a bathroom really huge with a bathtab that was just an invitation to stay in and soak ! The bed was amazing and the decoration just great ! Every little detail was taken care of , and we felt that it was a place really worth its money !

It was my wife's birthday and she really felt pampered ! I recommend it without any hesitation !

on arriving to this hotel we were met by jill who was really friendly and made us feel welcome straight away, after parking our car for free in a safe 24hour security manned space, we were shown to our room and were offered a free upgrade to their master suite because this happened to be free, we thought this was a great gesture, the room was fantastic, clean spacious with a large 4 poster bed and beautiful bathroom, the lights furniture and fittings all finished the look off,we travel quite alot but this was easiest our favourite stay, the location of the hotel is about 3 mins to the city centre but with none of the noise because it is just on the other side of the a63,the food at the pub is excellent a great menu with pies specials but we suggest the whale and chips :] . the stay was great but again the friendly staff which included jill, bev, emily and tom made this trip most memorble.

Room Tip: choose the master room, or the marine view room as both have best views

Have moved my boat to Hull Marina so I was looking for good quality rooms nearby together with some atmosphere and friendly service - they have it all. Bev welcomed us in the bar and I had a glass of chilled wine in my hand while I registered. Shown to the room with a view over the Marina it was up with the best 3 star quality. Evening meal of the steak pie was fantastic. Breakfast is minimal, but you can always pop next door to thr Holiday Inn and enjoy their's for a small fortune. Will stay again - often.

During the past year and a half i have stayed here for at least 6 months which i think says it all. The rooms are nothing like standard pub rooms. I work away from home a lot and like to stay in nice accomodation. The rooms here are far better than 95% of the hotels i stay, you really will be surprised by the high standard of the rooms.
The staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is excellent and there is also free wifi & free parking and only 5 min walk into the town center.

All in all, an excellent place to stay.

Had a christening to attend so found this place, we were greeted by friendly staff on arrival, which was a great first impression. We had originally booked the emerald room and was upgraded to the apartment. The apartment has everything you need, it was lovely and spacious, nice decor and a super comfy bed!
Breakfast is help yourself which is great and means you are not limited to a time scale of when you need to eat by.
Lovely boutique rooms which get my vote over the chain hotels anyday!
Would definitely stay here again if i am ever in hull again.

Decided to have a weekend away in Hull and stayed at the Whittington and Cat because we had seen it on 4 in a bed,and what a little gem we found, on arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us up to our room insisting on carrying our luggage, We stayed in the Marine View, and I must admit I was blown away with it, nicely decorated and very clean,Once we had unpacked and showered we went down into the bar area for a drink were we was greeted once again by the friendly staff and the locals who made us feel at home, with us having a long day travelling we decided just to eat in the Whittington and Cat and not venture out,
We were spoilt for choice with the menu and in the end decided on the Homemade Steak pie and we were not dissapointed when it arrived, having eaten we sat in the bar area and chatted to the locals about places to visit over the weekend.
We had a comfortable nights sleep.
Breakfast was a selection of fresh fruits.yogurts crossoints hams and cheesies, along with your normal choices of cereals and fruit drinks.
The Whittington and Cat is situated 2 mins walk from the Marina and about 5 mins from the shopping centers in the town.
All in all we had a fantastic stay at the Whittington and Cat and my wife as already booked for another stay later in the year.

Room Tip: The Marine View is fantastic with views over the marina I would highly recommend this room.
