“Lovely hotel I woud certainly stay there again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Stayed here for one night. Hotel is right in the middle of the Pantiles, our room was right at the top of the hotel, very quiet and well appointed. Bath room clean and spacious. Staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us. Food in the restaurant was very good and reasonable priced.
Overall a good nights stay in a good hotel.

Good hotel in good location but just a few niggles. There's no lift so luggage has to be hauled up narrow staircases - no assistance was offered. The car park is free to residents but is some way from the hotel - and again, luggage has to be hauled from car to hotel and back. Beware the very busy road crossing! Also it is best to use an ill-publicised walkway from the car park rather than walking down the road. It is possible to park behind the hotel to unload your luggage but parking is restricted. Breakfast is included in the price but only Continental. The full breakfast was very good and well served but quite pricey. The room had some good period features plus period books, tea sets etc. The plumbing of the shower/bath is overly complicated! I couldn't get the overhead shower to work without the bath tap running! And (this is a weird observation which seems to happen a lot in UK hotels) the cold tap water is warm! The location in The Pantiles is great! Our room overlooked the bandstand.

The setting was quaint, but totally impractical access for luggage. The beds (double) were so small that I actually fell out on turning over whilst asleep! Breakfast was good but on sale did not state that for residents continental was included in the price and not full English. A lovely setting, but would not book again.

As has already been noted, this hotel is in a great location on the Pantiles but be aware that it is at the 'bottom end' of town and it is a good 15 mins walk uphill to the 'top end' of town so if you don't enjoy walking then this may not be the best place for you.

Rooms are a tale of two halves. The ones at the front of the hotel overlook the Pantiles and have great views. There are bars and restaurants on the Pantiles and there is a bit of noise in the evenings but it didn't bother us. The rooms at the back of the hotel, including the family rooms, do overlook a busy road. Not great views and a bit of traffic noise. The rooms do have a bit of character and are better than most bog standard chain hotels.

The reception is the bar which is OK but a bit unconventional. We had a great breakfast in the restaurant and sat in the outside area in the sun watching the world go by - fantastic!

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel for a quieter night.

We stayed here while attending a wedding in the area and were able to book into our room as soon as we arrived - allowing us to change before the wedding. The staff are pleasant and helpful - though be warned there are no lifts - in hindsight I should have asked for a room on a lower floor as I have arthritis. Our room was lovely - spacious and comfortable - if I have one complaint its that there are no tea/coffee making facilities which seem to be standard everywhere else these days. Continental breakfast was included but you can order from a large selection of other breakfasts - my husband's Eggs Benedict were lovely - though my french toast and bacon could have done with more than one slice of bacon! We had a light lunch before the wedding too which was very nice - the potted crab in particular was lovely - but be warned as twelve and a half percent service charge is automatically added.

The location is perfect for exploring as you are right on The Pantiles and just outside the hotel there is a bandstand and while we were there a small market - first weekend in the month.

So a very good choice - but for the lack of a lift and the tea and coffee it would have been five stars.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for one night and found it an average experience.
This is a 5 floor hotel situated in the centre of the Pantiles which has no lift and narrow stairs.
It is situated close to restaurants, pubs and shops on a very busy road, which makes this hotel very noisy especially if you have a room at the front of the hotel.
There is also free carparking across the other side of this road.
The free wifi works only downstairs.
The staff were very friendly.
The hotel has no reception so you have to go to the bar for check in.
Be aware in summer ther is no AC so rooms are very hot especially on the higher floors and the windows don't open!!

The first room we were given was like an oven and facing the main road so noisy as well, the second room faced the fire escape, was also hot and windows did not open.
This room was a good size, and clean with nice decor and a comfortable bed. There was no fridge or any tea or coffee making facilities in the room
The bathroom was very small but clean with a good showerhead and had a few toiletries.

Breakfast was downstairs on the ground floor and consisted of cereal, toast tea and coffee.

I would not recommend this hotel in summer, if you can't climb lots of stairs and you don't sleep in a noisy environment.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main road are noisy, stairs are steep, rooms are hot ++ in summer.

This hotel has got a brilliant location on the famous Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells.

The hotel is newly decorated with a boutique feel. We stayed in "Molyneux Park" aka room 31 which looks out across The Pantiles.

The bed was very comfortable and bathroom decorated to a high standard. As this hotel is a really old building you'll need to climb quite a few stairs which are narrow - no lifts here.

Breakfast was served to us in the restaurant downstairs and there was a quite easy going ambience.

The staff were helpful and we just loved the comfortable bedroom

Free car parking was across the road.

Be aware of the stairs as could be a problem if you're not fit or able. It might also be worth considering noise from outside if you stay in the summer as the rooms at the front look over the Pantiles which has outside tables and chairs.

I can easily recommend this hotel if you want a great location in an original and quirky building.
