“Great for Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We work in Tunbridge Wells and often get peckish in the mornings... as a result we've had a Full English at pretty much every Cafe in town! Having done the rounds,The Black Dog has established itself as our "go to place".

The food itself is great and always perfectly done, plus the menu is done in a way you can pretty much build your own Breakfast which is a nice touch. I'm really not convinced about the review below because you'll honestly be hard pressed to find a better coffee in town. It's about as perfectly made as you can get and the Monmouth supply they use speaks for itself.

We've had our fair share of brekkies about town, but it's The Black Dog we continue to revisit.

“Cool Cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Whenever we're in Tunbridge Wells we drop into the Black Dog.
You just can't beat the coffee and the breakfasts are really top notch. I particularly love the relaxed vibe and cool music....
Well worth a visit if you haven't yet tried it.

“Failed at first post”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

I was passing and always enjoying tasting new establishments coffee. The cafe looked friendly and inviting but sadly my take away cappuccino was rather weak and served in a tiny take away cup...rather disappointing and not inclined to go back. Surely the coffee MUST be outstanding or the rest fails.

Hello, thanks for your feedback but are you sure you have got the right place? I appreciate the subjective nature of coffee and varied taste buds but our cafe' has established itself on a reputation for great coffee.
We use 8oz takeaway cups because we believe the coffee needs to be respected rather than filling a cup with lots of milk or water like the high st chains do. We grind our coffee to order to ensure freshness. Our coffee is then served as a double shot standard which means 19 grams of coffee extracted through the espresso machine for 25-30 seconds. This gives you 50 mls of espresso which in an 8 oz. takeaway cup gives you a heavy toned but mellow and full bodied coffee. We do also offer a single shot option for those that prefer a more subtle flavour, is this what you requested?
We also use the legendary Monmouth Coffee Company for our beans which in London has led the way in the coffee/cafe scene explosion in recent years. We take our coffee very seriously and would welcome perhaps a future visit where we can talk you through the processes of making espresso coffee and then make the perfect cup for you.

“Great little cafe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Pop in for a drink & a bite to eat. Both are excellent! Coffee and teas are hot, fresh and tasty. Sandwiches are some of the best in town.

“Worth walking a few yards further for...”

This is how cafes should be. Still serving the best coffees in town and delicious food.

Worth the extra walk!
