“A great welcome and a hearty breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

I stayed 2 nights with my wife over the weekend after a business meeting on the Friday. Our room was very nicely decorated, and it looked as though it was recently done. The room was spacious, and included quality soaps, shampoos and hand creams, tea and coffee of various varieties, and a chocolate each! The bed was very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean, and obviously the owners took great pride in their guest house. The fresh cooked breakfast was most enjoyable.
Brick House is very handily placed, no more than 2-3 minutes walk from the town. There are plenty of restaurants close by (we had a great curry in The Spice House at the top of the road!).

We would certainly recommend The Brick House, and will have no hesitation in returning if we are in Tunbridge Wells in the future.

The location is really handy, less than ten minutes from the station and very near to the town centre. The house has lots of character, with curios, books and pictures adorning the walls. The owner was very friendly and let us arrive early and then leave our bags for a few hours on the day we left. The room was huge and the bed was comfortable, though there was a slight smell of paint from very recent redecoration. The breakfast was fine with a choice of options, and overall it was a very charming place to stay.

Julia gave us a very warm welcome and did not mind that we arrived later then expected because of traffic on the M25. The room was massive with a very comfortable king size bed. Lovely hot bath in the on suite. Excellent breakfast and off street parking. The location is very central. My husband and I would highly recommend. Wonderful hosts.

We stayed here for 2 nights in September and were welcomed by Julia with home made cakes. We had the very large double room on the front with an equally large en-suite bathroom. The room was very comfortable with 2 chairs and table by the window, huge amount of wardrobe space, dressing table, but the main thing was the bed which was very comfortable. It was very quiet at night, but there were lots of gurgling plumbing noises from other rooms soon after 7am, however we are early risers so not really a problem. Breakfast was very nice on both days with excellent scrambled egg for me and full English for my husband. Home made marmalade was a treat.
The B&B is very convenient for shops and restaurants and a short walk to the Pantiles. Unfortunately it rained a lot so didn't really see them at their best. We ate out at the Spice Club restaurant at the top of the road. Being a Sunday night we were the only ones in there, however the food we had was very good. On the second night we ate at Dame Tatines around the corner which has a special on Sun to Tues. Starters were nice and had very good sea bass on risotto for main. It was quite busy for a Monday night and had a nice atmosphere.

If were were staying in Tunbridge wells again we would definitely revisit this B&B.

I have just spent a few days at The Brick House, and booked it based on the description of the bedrooms and the photos of the outside and pool.

Our bed room was not one of those in the photos, and while clean and bright, it was a mish mash of furniture complete with bookcase full of dusty books. The beds were narrow and uncomfortable.

The back of the property is quite run down and clearly not for the guests, so I am confused at the inclusion of a picture of it, which also shows a pool that doesnt exist. Very disappointing!!

Room Tip: The en suite rooms seem to be the better accomodations

We were very sorry that this guest felt unable to talk to us, as when asked they seemed to be very happy with everything, especially with the complimentary home-made cakes when they arrived. The beds in that room are standard single beds with top of the range mattresses less than six months old. Regarding our garden - guests are always welcome to go in the garden, we even supply ash-trays for them. They only have to ask. These guests stayed with us near the end of September and the pool is closed from the beginning of September, although due to insurance liabilities we have been advised in future not to offer the use of the pool to our guests, but they are always welcome in my lovingly tendered garden. Every one has always been happy with our rooms and the size of them. We are at present working with an interior designer to upgrade all the bedrooms.

Stayed here for a family wedding. Great little bed and breakfast, excellent location for eating out and shopping. We had the main double room with private bathroom and it was huge, more than enough room for two people. Julia was very welcoming and recommended lots of things to do and see which helped. Would definitely stay here again.

My first review! Just spent 6 comfortable nights at the Brick House Bed and Breakfast. Room was lovely and spacious even with a substantial camp bed for our 11 year old daughter. Beds were super comfy with memory foam mattresses on both beds. En suite bathroom was large, light and airy with shower over full sized bath. There seemed to be an endless supply of hot water! Julia and Clive have a well rehearsed breakfast routine, serving up yummy cooked breakfasts made to order. Other options were available but not tried this visit. They are a very nice couple welcoming us into their beautiful home. No raised eyebrows for us after our many late nights!
