Description: Welcome to the Toby Carvery Thanet. When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Margate’s favourite carvery restaurant. Drop by and you'll find lots more on offer, including cooked breakfasts and tasty specials.

“Nice food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2012

A good place to go if you fancy a roast dinner. It can get very busy in the holidays and you have to queue up for your meal, school dinner style which I personally hate, but the food is always ok and the decor is of a good standered.

“OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

I called in for a pint as was staying at the nearby Travelodge. It was towards the end of service on a damp and dismal Sunday and, sadly, this seemed to be reflected in the staff.
Many were flitting around but only 1 appeared to be able to serve at the bar. It felt like I waited longer to get served with my 2 pints than it did to actually drink them!

“A superb carvery roast at a very good price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2012

Well now... As a well travelled chap I must confess I had never even considered a Toby Carvery to eat in. Thanks to my Mother's choice our family ate here on Friday 16th March for an early Mother's Day get together. And I am so pleased we did. It is designed in a more traditional style and we opted for the Carvery meal option which gives you a generous portion of meat and then as many vegetable top ups as your bulging waistline thinks it needs.
And it is very very good. The lunchtime session was extremely busy today which resulted in us having to wait half an hour to be seated. We were booked in by a very pleasant gentleman who gave us one of those small electronic gizmos which explode in colour etc when it is your turn to be placed.
So off to the bar and it is the bar experience which has stopped this eaterie achieving five stars. Now lets be kind here. Perhaps the bar fellow was having a bad day, or did not feel well. But the luke warm and somewhat snobbish service from him nearly caused me to pull the plug and go to eat somewhere else. News Flash, Sir!! You are not working in Bambou or the Ivy and perhaps you would enjoy your life a little more if you did not approach your customers with ill concealed condescension.
Every other member of staff we had dealings with was at the top of their game, polite, friendly, wonderfully helpful and a real credit to the Toby brand. The gentleman who served us, Steven, was so socially skilled and engaging that I am sure that Bambou AND the Ivy would be delighted to employ him.
So there you have it. All in all a very good experience which has given us the incentive to try out other Toby establishments. And the price? Excluding drinks, less than £6 per person. Superb. With prices like this, even my dearly beloved Bambou has got serious competition. Well Done!!!

“hmmm ...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

as a pub it was fine but as a carvery nope would not recommend if you like your meat well done and without fliipant comments from the people who serve you!!!
Its a shame a popular place cannot accommodate just a little to people who dont like to see blood on their food!!!!! Also the veg was well over cooked and starchy, not very appertizing...its all you can eat but not on the meat so whats the point!!!
Definately not value for money....
Would not recommend as somewhere to eat but for a place to have a drink its ok..
