“Lovely stay................”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We stayed for 1 night in an upper deck double with harbour view. The welcome we recieved upon arrival was great - very friendly and helpful. The hotel is quirky, lots of little rooms and knick knacks all around. We were escorted to an upper deck double and its at the very top of the hotel (be aware, there are a lot of steps !!), but the room was lovely, very clean and views right out to France. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom very clean.
Overall, very happy with the standard at the Royal Harbour. Next morning, we were up for breakfast - lovely table by the window and the full English was delightful. There was everything you could wish for, including bucks fizz, salmon, fruit - really tasty.
I would have no hesitation of staying there again or recomending the Royal Harbour to others. I know everyone's experience is different, but ours was lovely........

Room Tip: Harbour view, upper deck or one with a balcony - really nice - be aware there are lots of steps and...

Stayed here for 2 nights last weekend and thought we had arrived at the wrong hotel as had thought it was a 4* hotel but was 2*.Once at reception the staff were very friendly and took us to ur room 2 floors up.I didnt realise the seaview cabin room would be so small, almost claustrophbic and very dusty on all surfaces.I went to reception and the nice girl on reception was ever so helpful and changed us to a bigger room which was much better although still bit dusty and cobwebby above bed.I have to say though the bed was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom nice and modern. All in all good but i feel they have concentrated more on making the lounges nice and putting chocolates on the pillow and biscuits, fancy shampoos etc but not on the cleaning and maintenance and for nearly £200 for 2 nights vastly overpriced.

Room Tip: cabin rooms = tiny

We stayed for one night and booked very last minute in two rooms. One was a single Cabin room at the top of the hotel with beautiful sea views and the other was a sweet double room at the back. We didn't pay loads as it was last minute and were truly happy with all aspects. The welcoming reception, pretty decor, comfortable beds and very appetizing breakfasts. We were able to take our dog too. Not sure how anyone can moan about this hotel unless they're born on another planet.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have lovely views but may be a little noisy at the weekend because this is a seas...

We were given a very warm welcome and we had a lovely stay. Our rooms with beautiful sea views had comfortable beds and delicious down duvets, crisp white bed linen and the shower worked beautifully.
There were log fires in the reception rooms, and the décor was eclectic with books and pictures and interesting objects abounding.
Breakfasts were very good with fresh fruit salad and lots of choice.

Room Tip: Discuss with the hotel .

It's hard to imagine how this overpriced place manages to get some positive reviews when the experience for many visitors is so bad, all I can say is scroll down and read all of them not just the first few, be very afraid. Sea view room was microscopic rather than just small. Bed not full double, soft and saggy. Negotiating the room involves scraping walls and furniture, they have had to put glass protection on the walls to prevent damage. Brown skid mark in toilet on arrival. It's a mincing type incredibly noisy, use at night would not be good. Shower cheap Mira electric type, variable temperature at random through to cold, poor flow. The size of the room and the improvised bathroom are the result of a cheap conversion that split each front sea view room into two tiny ones. Uncomfortable night resulted, much noise from other rooms, paper thin walls too. The result is also overpopulation of the hotel when full, the apparently pleasant lounge and bar areas were full to bursting on a Saturday visit, spoilt the ambience totally. Despite paying for breakfast we couldn't get near on Sunday morning within the time we had available, had to leave without having any. I'd say this place is ok if you had their larger room and the place was not booked anywhere near full, not the experience for most unfortunately. It's shocking that they feel able to ask £100 and upwards for rooms that would disgrace a £50 B+B. Worst hotel experience ever for us.

Room Tip: Don't even think about booking a small sea view room!

Stayed here for two nights over the Easter weekend and had a great time. Hotel very comfortable - lovely big room at the top of the stairs.

Complimentary cheese and the honesty bar were lovely touches and breakfast both mornings a real treat. Staff friendly and helpful. Couldn't really ask for more!

Room Tip: If you don't mind the stairs our room (think it was 24?) had loads of space and a sofa in it
