“Great Easter Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Stayed here for two nights over the Easter weekend and had a great time. Hotel very comfortable - lovely big room at the top of the stairs.

Complimentary cheese and the honesty bar were lovely touches and breakfast both mornings a real treat. Staff friendly and helpful. Couldn't really ask for more!

Room Tip: If you don't mind the stairs our room (think it was 24?) had loads of space and a sofa in it

This is a boutique-type hotel in two Regency-terraced houses (about 20 rooms) overlooking the harbour in Ramsgate. The hotel is charming, with old floorboards, windy staircases and general nooks and crannies. Several bookcases are dotted around with plenty of books for those rainy days - this is England after all! Furniture matches the period and fits in well. A comfortable lounge is downstairs with comfy armchairs and sofas, and plenty of magazines and more books. There is an honesty bar and I very much appreciated the free cheese (8 types) and biscuits laid out in the dining room in the evening as I hadn't had any dinner! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast has been commented upon in at least one other review and is very good. I liked the real honeycomb complete with honey!

This is a small hotel, located in a pretty Terrace with wonderful views over Ramsgate Harbour. Easy walk to beach and other amenities. Breakfast cooked to order. Helpful young staff. This is a converted old house so rooms small but the warm welcome, choice of lounges and nice little extras like cheese and biscuits in the evening make this a really good place to stay. The ground floor room with wet room ideal for anyone with mobility problems and although front door up stairs there is level entry from the tiny car park

Room Tip: try and get a sea view and ground floor if you have mobility problems parking can be difficult but...

I can't find fault with this hotel at all! The staff were lovely - really helpful but not in your face. The breakfast was probably the best I've ever had in a hotel, with a brilliant selection of fruit, cereal, smoke salmon, croissants and any sort of English breakfast you could want for. The hotel itself is in a Regency building so the stairs are steep. Our room was at the top so not for the unfit or unsteady on their feet. The bedrooms are really comfortable and cosy, the beds beautifully comfortable with matress toppers and a lovely good quality duvet. The hotel has two lounges with open fires, comfy sofas and interesting memoribilia everywhere, art on the walls, books, etc. A free cheeseboard after 9.30 and an honesty bar - what more could you want for? It would be great if they could do evening meals as well, though there are some good priced menus within a couple of hundred yards and Age & Sons is definitely worth going to for some culinary delights.

Room Tip: We didnt see any other rooms, but the sea front rooms are worth having

We were very lucky to find last minute accommodation at this warm and welcoming hotel on a cold March evening. We stayed in the family room on the top floor, which was comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. The hotel was cosy, clean and tastefully decorated; the staff were friendly and welcoming. When we compared the cost of our stay here, which included an extensive breakfast selection, with nearby budget hotels, it was very good value for money. It seemed as though every detail had been considered and every need preempted! The lovely views, open fires, wide selection of reading materials and board games, the old record player and selection of LPs, little chicks and Easter eggs hiding in the plant pots.... all combined to create a unique experience. We would love to have stayed longer and would recommend it without hesitation.

Travelling down from North Bucks to Gravesend to celebrate our grandson's 5th Birthday with him and 20 plus of his friends on Sunday we decided to book Monday off work and stay overnight somewhere on the Kent coast to enjoy a little "us time" and a leisurely drive back the next day, being our 41st Wedding Anniversary.

We found The Royal Harbour Hotel on the internet and were very impressed by the reviews.

We were obviously aware that our Double Cabin would be small but on arrival we were offered the choice of two and chose Room 10.

After a thoroughly enjoyable meal at the lovely Bon Appetit a couple of minutes walk towards the harbour we returned to the warmth of the 3 log fires but had no room, unfortunately, for the complimentary cheese and biscuits being laid out!

Breakfast was a delight. We have never before seen a natural honeycomb alongside a hotel cereal display - apparently this comes from the same farm which supplies the ham for the continental buffet.

Suitably refreshed we headed to an old haunt - St Margaret's Bay - where your mobile thinks it's in France, so don't accept or make any calls !

We would love to return to 'this little gem' in the not too distant future, hopefully upgrading to the Harbour Suite !

All credit to the owner(s) and staff. A unique/quaint warm and friendly country house hotel in a brilliant location.

Room Tip: You are not just paying for the room - more for "the whole experience".
