“Great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013 via mobile

Called in on a Sunday morning. Place was buzzing as they were preparing the Sunday roasts. Yorkshire puddings ready on the hot plate at ten am was a bit of a worry. God knows what they were like at 1pm. Ordered full English. My boy had the Swedish breakfast I think they called it ! Brilliant. Proper fry up with fresh ingredients and the Swedish one. I pinched a bit of that. We'll tasty '. The surroundings are a bit dated the furniture old. So for the pretentious ones don't bother. Best breakfast I've had in ages and the only thing that spoilt it for me were the three couples whom let their kids run riot around the place !
Or maybe I am a grumpy old git !

Heard they do great late night munchies as we'll. I am definitely going back !

“Chaotic, but just about turned it around!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

Went to the Belgium Bar on the harbour front at Ramsgate – initial impressions are of a gallic bistro decorated in a shabby-chic style, although closer inspection reveals the emphasis is more on the shabby, less on the chic.
Menu looks good and varied, and an extensive list of good beers is available. Staff are all enthusiastic, although our evening veered towards the disastrous, as the pressure of dealing with a numerous paying customers looked to be beyond their capabilities. Meals were served missing sides, a pork chop was offered to one of us as a steak, confusion over orders – chaotic bordering on Fawltyesque!
However through a combination of decent if not exceptional food, the consumption of numerous strong beers, and perhaps most importantly the friendliness of the staff and manager, a crisis was averted, and we all had a good time…..I suspect the fact our group were more interested in having a social evening rather than gastronomic experience also helped. Note the bar is dog (canine) friendly – don’t come if you’re not prepared to have someone’s Fido looking enviously at your meal.

“Belgium Cafe stuck in a 60's time-warp”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Long gone are the days of visiting the Kent coastal town of Ramsgate and returning back to London well fed and refreshed. Having read the reviews in the official tourist articles, I decided to give this place a try one weekday lunchtime. Beware of being guided by The Belgium Cafe Website, the place is nothing like it when you get there.

The Belgium Cafe had no more than a handful of people sitting at tables yet my food order took 45 minutes to serve a simple spaghetti dish with mussels and chilli. Once it finally arrived, it was mediocre and certainly not worth the wait.

The Cafe does carry a fairly extensive selection of foreign beers and lagers as you would expect to find given the name of the place. If Ramsgate were ever to get an influx of Belgium Tourists, I cannot see them making a bee hive for this place. It is shabby, dark and crammed full of tables and chairs and lacks atmosphere.

Would I go back, definitely not.

“Great little cafe bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Massive portions well presented and delicious food. I had the soup of the day which was served with delicious fresh bread. Then the Belgium Cafe Burger which is served with chips and a fabulous herby side salad. I've also had the Steak here before which is seasoned and cooked to perfection (Medium rare). Well worth a visit.

“Gone downhill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

What a shame a really good and interesting restaurant with a good selection of food but apart from the cheese board has gone rapidly downhill.
Used to be one of my favourite dining places in Ramsgate and tried again after poor experience and really gone down. Don't know what's happened - new management maybe - will try again next month and if still poor will give up.
