“Perfect for our needs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2011

This was the second time we stayed (with our dog), the first time being May of this year, and more recently the begining of September. We stayed one night on both occassions because it's right on the doorstep of the ferry port to France when we go on our holidays, and, more importantly, because it's dog friendly. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Can't comment on breakfast as we leave too early for it, but the owner did offer to do us breakfast earlier than usual if we wanted it. The room was a very generous size, comfortable and clean. Wonderful friendly pub around the corner recommended by the owner, that also does good food. Will definately be staying there again.

We stayed there one night recently and were very pleased with the location and accommodations. Dover doesn't have too much to offer after 6pm on a Saturday evening but our host handed us a guide they put together, this helped with picking out a restaurant. The room was generous, we had our 2 dogs with us and were very happy to have the extra space. The large windows going floor to ceiling were great, allowing our dogs to sit and look out without having to climb on anything. The bed was very comfortable after spending a day walking around Canterbury. Breakfast was really good, I am not a fan of the "Full English Breakfast" so having a choice of other things made me very happy.

Room Tip: We stayed in the "Dover" room, facing towards town.

As a family we stayed for a night in Dover at the Castle House. Pleasantly surprised with how nice the room was, and how large. We stayed on the second floor. Breakfast was good and the owners were very friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending, and I don't get to say that very often these days.

We stayed here for two nights, and had two rooms. One large family room with two dbl beds and a separate twin bed, and an attic room with two twins. Both had their own bathrooms, were furnished very nicely. Plenty of towels, etc. The breakfast room was cheery and bright blue. Location was excellent and we could walk to town or the Castle.
The best part of our visit, though, was Sharon, the owner and innkeeper. She helped us in advance with transportation from a nearby rail station for some family members. She also answered all our questions in advance via email. She made us feel very welcome and we would not hesitate to stay there again. We stayed here prior to taking a cruise from Dover. There were several other guests staying prior to the same cruise.
Our college kids loved the free wi-fi.

We stayed at Castle House on Friday 12th August 2011 prior to travelling to France on the Saturday. The Proprietor kindly put an extra bed into our room so that it would sleep a family of five. The room was lovely, very clean, nice bedlinen with toiletries provided. The breakfast was excellent and the dining room pleasant. The owner also allowed us to store our cycles in a lock up for the night.
I would highly recommend! Good base for touring Kent and Dover Castle etc as well as superb location for cross channel ferries.
We would definately stay here again.

Friendly welcome, well placed for Dover stay and attractions, recommend castle, and bronze age boat. Full strength wifi, better than home! Large clean family room, nice biscuits, etc
Excellent value for money and worthy of it's 4 stars.
Would gladly recommend.

After a long day we decided to stay the night in Dover and just happened upon the Castle guest house. We were met by Sharon who welcomed us warmly and was able to give us a family room. It was large and very clean. The bathroom was small but clean, and had a good shower. With two large windows overlooking the street the room was bright and cheery. The next morning we had a full English Breakfast that was delicious. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is very close to the cliffs of Dover walk as well as Dover Castle. I would highly recommend this guest house to any visitors of Dover.
