What can I say about this place?! The welcome was less than warm, ice cold in fact. No smile, no information, just handed a pen and paper to check in. That said, the ladies of the night who frequent the street outside the hotel seemed friendly...if lacking most of their teeth! The bar area looked lovely (although there is a sign that says high vis jackets and boots must not be worn in the bar area - so may give you an idea of who stays here most!) and the decor was good and the room was ok. Good view I guess, if a car park and dockyard float your boat, so to speak. Sheets were a bit questionable - they were clean, but almost had a scum on them, and I'm not sure if I was in a room which had been vacant for a while so the dust had settled, but my colleagues said similar. We had to check our early the next day and the breakfast was not available yet. I asked, since there was only ten minutes until breakfast started, if I could quickly grab a coffee and a piece of fruit and was told that this would be impossible because it wasn't the time to open it yet - TEN MINUTES!! Worse still, when we were checking out, we had a lot of bags and equipment. The car park is behind the hotel and you can not stop on the road at the front. Rather than have to carry all of our bags and equipment through the hotel, round the corner, down the steps, up the ramp to the car park...well, it's hard to explain. There is another door to the car park right by the lifts area. An employee of the hotel saw me struggling with luggage and did not offer to help and refused to let me use the door he was accessing the car park by because it was for staff only - but it is basically the same exit! It leads to the same place as walking the entire round outside of the hotel without having to go through reception and is neither a fire escape nor a special door of any kind.
