“Great place to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Explored the historic dockyard for 2 days. Entrance was paid for with Tesco vouchers & tickets are valid for 12 months. So much to see & learn about the history of this place. 3 very interesting ships to visit. Lifeboat museum rope making art gallery & much more also a nice restaurant for drink & food to keep you going. Well worth a visit.

“Brilliant day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Was a very breezy day with a few showers and the site is vast with a lot of walking in the outdoors so was glad of comfy shoes and a warm coat.
We started with a guided tour of the Ropery and it was very entertaining and informative. I don't usually do guided tours as I get bored but this one was good and it was only the young lady's third tour. From there we went round the attractions in sequence to limit the walking. Wheelchair access was very good, only the submarine and the older ship were completely inaccessible. The lifeboat museum was especially well set out. Bit disappointed that the Hearts of Oak exhibit was access by guided tour only. This wasn't made clear and as we got to that at the end of our visit we didn't have time. The onsite cafe was busy, not cheap but food was of a reasonable standard but if you are able take your own, there are plenty of places to eat outside and under cover.
Very good value especially as the tickers are valid for a year.

“Had a lovely day at the historic dockyards!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

We visited the dockyards and loved it! The tour around the ropery with mister Stephan was very special. When do you have the chance to visit a submarine? The old wooden buildings are beautiful. The story about building the old ships and oak was very special and interesting.

“anchors away...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

i went here last summer holidays with my family we abosolutely loved it fun packed day out down in the submairine tour which was interactive and looking round some amazing ships that people have braved their lives to help others on the stormy seas around the world. Fantastic day out the victorian ropery was great for children and parents where we could see how they made rope back then and they still actually do it now still which proves how sucessfull this 1/4 of a mile long room was and still is. the prices were brilliant a discount for when you come back next time, dogs were allowed round especially guide dogs but they werent allowed to go on the ships or the expeditions which is reasonable because they may disturb people while their on their day out mabey with their family or friends or on their own for a peacfull day out. 10 out of 10 amazing.
