“It was 'OK'”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

It was OK but not much to do really. Don't think I will be returning! Perhaps it would have been better if I visited on a day when they had an event or something going on.

“Insightful and comical tunnel tour. Neil's the best!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

I took my friend to Fort Amherst yesterday for her birthday. The two of us bought tickets for the 2pm tunnel tour and couldn't have been more pleased with our £5 experience! Firstly, I expected a much shorter tour (after all, we only paid £10 for both of us!) yet it lasted more than two and half hours! Secondly, it's a cliche to expect a fact-repeating, dull person to lead a group but our guide (Neil - do request him!) was anything but; humourous, smart, informative, personable and most importantly able to deliver his spiel at different levels for the varying ages of our group (the younger ones got a little tired so he made things fun for them and got them engaged, asking them questions etc..) Really really recommend this good value-for-money afternoon excursion. Wear warm clothing however. Neil told our group that the temperature remains a steady 10-12C year-round and wearing shorts and t-shirt wasn't the best idea of mine. When the tour is finished, there are some great views of Medway, the river, and the skyline so take a stroll and take a break in the cafe too. Neil told us that all the staff (except the GM) are volunteers and they deserve a huge applause.

“Spooky walks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Fantastic grounds with open air exhibits as well as the walk in the tunnels. Ghost walks are available if your brave enough. Nice tea rooms for when you are done. Very helpful staff and onsite parking.

“IT IS CALLED AMHERST NOT HEARSE??”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2012

Again i visited this attraction a couple of years ago, whilst passing through Kent going somewhere. All i can say it was really amazing with all the cannons, magazines and the sights from the battlements. When i was there i overheard a dizzy american talking to another tourist about the
uniqueness of fort hearse, hence the title.
