“Cooked breakfast in a Travelodge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

A bit hard to find the first time but have stayed here previously and is a great central location as the name suggests. Parking is limited and paid for (£5 a day).
The reception area is grand and the staff more than courteous. During the Summer months I would recommend asking reception for a fan when checking in as the bedrooms can get a bit hot and the windows are all restricted opening 'for your safety'.
Rooms are good and basic as you would expect but the breakfast was unexpected - I've stayed in a few Travelodge's and either been handed a 'breakfast bag' on arrival, else had a 'breakfast box' delivered in the morning. Here I believe there is a cafe/restaurant and a buffet selection of cooked, full English breakfast - Not too bad either.

Thanks Travelodge - Hope this is a sign of things to come!

Room Tip: In the Summer months maybe avoid the upper floors if you can!

I have not been to many Travelodges but this one has put me off. Good points staff very helpful, very close to the centre of Canterbury and as we were at the back of the building reasonably quiet. Bedding and decoration very clean.
Bad points could not do the money on the car parking as it was night time and there were no lights to read instructions. Shower room appeared to look very clean but then noticed the hairs in the shower ans the dead fly lying in the corner on the floor Room so small that apart from the bed and TV on the wall nothing else would fit in. Small hallway with rail with six hangers and a work surface for the kettle and tea things. The worse part was the metal window which was secured for' my own safety' to only allow it to open about 3 inches it was very hot with no air conditioning which made sleep impossible.and with a feeling of being in a cell. There obviously are bigger rooms here but not the one we were in. Did not try the food as did not want to give them any more of my money

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

would happily stay here again although would try and make sure I was not next to a room with a baby.. I think the walls may be a bit thin although the father of said baby was shouting into his mobile phone until after 11pm. The receptionist when I told her of this did confirm that he had been warned about the level of noise from his room. The second night was much better as they had moved out! Breakfast was ample and kept fresh, the rooms were lovely and clean. Linen and towels spotless. The position couldn't be better for exploring Canterbury and was easy to find. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ann R

Room Tip: Ground floor good as there is no lift.

We stayed here August 2 to August 5 and have to say that the team here know how to manage and deliver good hospitality. The lodge is very clean, the rooms reach that same standard, the bar service is good, the front desk are the most friendly and competent and of course the location is excellent.
Car parking is excellent and great vfm...GBP for 3 days.
Well done Travel Lodge Canterbury Chaucer.

Stayed here a few times when visiting friends. It's in a perfect location at the bottom of town, and is very close to pubs and shops.

It's very clean and very well decorated, and the rooms are exactly as one would expect.

Plan to continue returning to this Travelodge

2nd time and not so good. High Summer and a great deal, but ventilation uncomfortable as window restricted to a 3mm opening. Appreciate H&S but it was stifling. Very basic and looking a bit shabby and car parking was problematic until sorted out by one helpful member of staff.
Shan't bother again.

Room Tip: One without a window strap if it is hot.
