Having read other reviews of the Abbots Barton, I am beginning to wonder if my wife and I actually stayed in the same hotel!
We stayed at the Abbots Barton Hotel for two nights in November 2006. The hotel is located about a ten minute walk from Canterbury Cathedral so is ideally situated for sightseeing.
The room that we were given had a small problem with a constantly leaking tap but this was dealt with swiftly and cheerfully by the receptionist who immediately moved us to another room. The room was well furnished and spotlessly clean and had all the usual amenities that you would expect. The public areas of the hotel were clean and well maintained.
Dinner in the restaurant was excellent – imaginative and well presented. Breakfast was the usual buffet style for fruit juices, cereals, etc. with waiter-served cooked breakfast if required.
All the staff were excellent – well trained, attentive and charming.
The Abbots Barton is only rated as a three star hotel but certainly out-performs many four star hotels that we have stayed in. We would happily stay in this hotel again.
