“Cheap good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

Very good quick cheap food which is good quality. Nice atmosphere in there too and an excellent choice of beers in the bottle and on pump.

“Yummy food, friendly, welcoming service”

Lovely food and excellent service. Just what we wanted after a long train journey to Canterbury. The young lady who served us was very smilie and helpful. Food was great.

“Food isn't as good as it used to be”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

I always used to enjoy coming here for lunch on the days I was at Uni, however lately the food quality hasn't been as good as it had been. The burgers are now on-par with Wetherspoon's with processed cheese rather than grated fresh cheese, and the ketchup is served in sachets rather than a bottle as it used to be. Also the portions have been made smaller. Will still eat here, but am disappointed that the standards have slipped down.

“Good alternative to Wetherspoonsn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

3 of us went there for a Saturday lunch. It's a" olde worlde" inn in a street just off the high street in Canterbury, I had the "juicy lucy " burgher which is about 10mm thick, very juicy and is served with a few chips on a wooden tray. Not really enough chips but burgher was excellent. My wife had tomato soup with bread which was good and daughter had scampi, chips and peas which was also good. 3 different draught beers so we a pint and a half and an orange juice. The bill was £20 so compared favourably with Wetherspoons. Check the menu carefully though, as there are 2 meals for £10 and some meals have free beer with them, but the menu is a bit of a mishmash and not laid out very well. The food all seems freshly cooked and very hot, unlike Wetherspoons which can seem a bit mass produced. Staff very friendly and we will eat here again, next time we are in the city
