4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Found this lovely pub on a recent visit to Canterbury.Great place small and cosy with a great atmosphere.Greeted by a lovely staff member and the food was so yummy, great quality.Order a chicken club and chips expecting an ordinary chicken sarnie and wow!! it was huge made with chunky slices of bread and chicken breast, side salad . Great value meal. Will be visiting this great pub on my next visit.

“Great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We happened upon this pub by chance and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, the service, and the atmosphere. Very good pub fare, some things not your usual, good beer, wine list.

“What a surprise - You've got to try it!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Stopped at this little pub for some much needed refreshment on a weekend in Canterbury. Lovely atmosphere, helpful staff, very clean. We rarely eat in pubs but as we were going to be celebrating all day we thought it would be wise. WOW what fantastic food - I would recommend the homemade fishfinger sandwich which was huge and also the ploughmans which had a big chunk of ham, 4 cheeses & pate & both at an unbelievable price!! You've got to try it!

“reliable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

A few years ago when my daughter was starting university in Canterbury we ventured into the town centre to have some lunch. We didn't know where to start but fell upon The City Arms. I remember well how the young bar/waiting staff made us feel welcome and put my daughter at ease with her new surroundings. The wine was lovely and the food delicious -recommend the mediterranean vegetable and feta cheese sandwich with a side order of chips! The service was efficient and friendly.
Today on a return visit to Canterbury with my husband and a different daughter for a completely different reason we looked for somewhere to eat on a busy and hot day. I sought out the City Arms and hoped and prayed it hadn't changed.
I am so pleased to say the young staff were as polite and efficient as ever - the food as delicious as ever and the wine delicious. How often do you get that sort of consistency?
If you need a tasty reasonably priced lunch and good service and atmosphere you can't go wrong here.
