“Great guided tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

We had a a fantastic guided tour of a wonderful old city.
We booked on line but you can turn up on the day and they will take you if they have space in the group. The guide was a lovely and very English lady who gave a most informative and enjoyable tour. We spent quite a while inside the cathedral grounds and were a little tired of sightseeing but we wanted to see the cathedral. So she suggested that we attend evensong in the cathedral (which is free). We did and it was absolutely magical.
She made our weekend very special.

“A great value for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of information our guide Lynn provided and we were happy we took the walk. Aside from the provided information, the tour allowed access to the cathedral grounds without having to pay extra; not the cathedral, just the grounds. The tour lasted about 90 minutes.

“A city explained!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

We booked (online) a Canterbury city council guided tour for Saturday morning as there were 7 of us......it wasn't easy to find where the tour starts from as the tourist information office has now moved from its original site, and there was no sign to say where it had gone (it's in the library now but not immediately obvious as to its whereabouts in there either !!) or where the tour started from!!!

The tour starts from two places: Christchurch gate, and Roman Museum - but first (unless, like us, you have already booked online) you have to buy your tickets! not so easy when there appears to be so little information on where to do this!!

We were incredibly lucky to have a guide called Trevor B.....who was really excellent and his enthusiasm brought the city to life. this wasn't the first tour I have been on as this is something I take visitors on so that they can see the city and understand something of its history, but Trevor's tour was very clever in that there was enough information to tempt the appetite - but not so much that the brain cells were swamped.......and very well presented so that even someone who knows the city gets interesting information. Not only that, but Trevor took real care to find out where everyone was from (i.e could understand him) and ensure that whenever he stopped to talk to us we were in front of him so that we could hear every word.

The tour lasts approx one and a half hours and costs £6.00. Well worth it - and I cant wait to do another tour when the next visitors come to stay!!!!

“An excellent overview of Canterbury if a stranger to English history.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

The tour is very good value but we found it a little long. The guide was very knowledgeable but took too long & our interest dwindled. If you had no knowledge of English history it is a good basic tour to take. You do get to see the outside of the cathedral but must pay separately to enter. Sadly I can't give this a "wow."

“great walking tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Tourist Information office told us where to find the tour, inexpensive, about 90min long, helps give a good overview of some of the historical points in the town, does not include anything inside the cathedral but I did not expect that, helps give "a lay of the land" as there is much to see and do...I suggest do this first then move on to more specific tours.
